Finance & Operations Manager

A Finance & Operations Manager is required to manage the Investment Finance and Operations areas of a private investment company.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring portfolio valuation is accurate and timely;
  • Maintaining the general ledger, preparation of monthly accounts and year-end financial statements;
  • Ensuring cash and security reconciliations are performed regularly, accurately and on a timely basis;
  • Managing investment operations efficiently and effectively covering, cash management, trade settlement, corporate actions, static data maintenance, KYC etc;
  • Primary responsibility for ensuring data held in the portfolio management system is accurate and regularly updated;
  • Developing a detailed understanding of the portfolio components, their performance, risk and trade characteristics;
  • Provide pro-active assistance to the Investment Team, ensure matters are resolved quickly and co-operatively while maintaining independence;
  • Facilitate a smooth working relationship with Counter-parties (Banks, Custodians, Brokers and Fund Managers);
  • Assist in conducting fund due diligence reviews, negotiating counter-party agreements;
  • Maintain Business Continuity Plan, continuously update, enhance and test the BCP;
  • Continually enhance and improve policies, procedures, processes, documentation and application roll-outs aimed at improving the overall efficiency and control environment;
  • Investments are global and covering a wide range of asset classes and instruments.

Profile Required:

The role will best suit a candidate with five+ years of similar experience. To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or postgraduate qualification in business, accounting, finance or a similar discipline;
  • Must have prior finance experience, preferably with a recognised accounting qualification;
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Excel at spreadsheet level;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; and
  • Intellectual curiosity and professional inquisitiveness.
