Salary: £109,285 - £128,570

LOCATION: Edinburgh

HOURS: Full time

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days a week) in our Edinburgh (Princes Exchange) office.


About this opportunity

This exciting role offers the opportunity to lead, build and empower a team of c.50 finance professionals, in the Commercial Banking Financial Control and Reporting Team, partnering with Commercial Banking Finance to deliver a robust control environment which gives confidence in reporting to your stakeholders. Providing valuable insights and support to stakeholders to contribute to LBG strategic agenda. In addition, you'll have responsibility for the Group's Account Ownership Confirmation (AOC) process, responsible for the Group's balance sheet attestation process.

You'll join us in Group Finance Support, a key function within the Finance community of LBG. We're a team of c.300 colleagues, with responsibilities including financial reporting and control, people and culture initiatives and strategy implementation.

The team is at the start of a significant Transformation journey, and you'll be part of influencing, designing and implementing Finance Transformation over the next 5 years, both within Group Finance Support and beyond!

Travel to London will be required.


What you'll be doing:

Drive and positively influence key internal and external GFS partners including Divisional Finance Directors, Risk Partners and our external auditors

  • Provide challenge, insight and decision support to the Commercial Banking Finance teams to improve business controls and performance
  • Own the Group's Account Ownership Confirmation (AOC) process, a key part of the Group' Financial Control Framework, ensuring robust balance sheet attestation across the Group, and report key metrics to senior committees such as Finance Risk Committee
  • Responsible for ensuring robust risk management processes, including SOX and RCSA, are embedded within the team, and provide a 'no-surprises', high quality Financial Control environment
  • Own and be accountable in driving resolution of issues at pace, collaborating effectively across teams to get the best solution for LBG
  • Build, lead and develop a successful professional, resilient and driven Finance team of c 50 people.
  • Driving an environment of continuous improvement and in particular through data improvement and the use of automation and AI tools
  • As a key member of the Leadership team, drive the cultural change to ensure that GFS is well placed to deliver for now and for the future

What you'll need:

  • Experienced leader with drive, energy and a growth mindset, who leads by example and has experience of leading a large team
  • Excellent communicator, able to influence and articulate complex issues at all levels across LBG, building strong diverse working relationships across different parts of the Group.
  • Strategic problem solver, with a passion for creating and driving future transformation and continuous improvement within Finance teams
  • Attract, inspire and lead a successful, diverse professional team actively managing performance to realise potential and retain talent.
  • Qualified finance professional with significant post qualification experience as a leader in control and management and statutory reporting
  • Strong Risk and Control understanding, including LBG RSCA and SOX framework; with an awareness of the key risks facing LBG Finance
  • Prior experience of leading a team through system, process or cultural change
  • An understanding of Commercial Banking Products and Reporting is preferred
