Finance Business Partner required for prestigious International School

CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified accountant

Client Details

A highly prestigious International School based in Surrey are looking to recruit a Finance Business Partner on a permanent basis. This is a rare opportunity due to historical low staff turnover.


To provide high quality, timely finance business support to partnered schools and some central functions.

To Produce accurate management accounts, budgets and forecasts to agreed timetable.

To lead the group in developing and producing ad hoc and routine operational analysis.

  • Support a cultural change in Finance by engaging and supporting stakeholders in a robust but empathetic manner
  • Liaise closely with one of the UK school's Leadership Team to fully understand and support the school Business Partner with some Head Office functions
  • Own the production of the partnered school's and some Head Office functions management accounts, ensuring accurate reporting, high quality forecasting and value adding commentary
  • Produce a robust annual budget for the partnered school's and some Head Office functions
  • Own financial element of the School's annual Business Plan Pro active, ad hoc and routine provision of financial and operational analysis and insight across every aspect of the business.
  • Production of monthly management accounts with commentary supported by all Finance Business Partners
  • Line manager to Assistant Finance Business Partner
  • Overall ownership and development of the General Ledger Review and approve certain journal entries and month end reconciliation with emphasis on accruals/prepayments etc.
  • Continually review and ensure correct accounting treatment of all revenue and expenditure within the business
  • Responsible for consolidation of detailed/bottom up budgeting process and the rolling in year forecast
  • Identify and develop process/reporting improvements to increase efficiency within the team and the wider business.


Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or similar)

  • Ability to accurately manipulate large sets of data
  • Confidence / experience to produce and develop analysis/metric from scratch
  • Extensive experience of variance analysis, including investigation and reporting
  • Sound understanding of budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Experience of Management Accounts within medium sized business
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Good grasp of cost control methodologies
  • Good financial systems knowledge.

  • Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with an empathetic style
  • Good understanding of business and of the information needs of budget holders
  • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Access Dimension's system knowledge helpful
