Your Role at Baxter:

This position will take a supporting role on various domestic and cross-border tax planning strategies, M&A transactions, and analyzing tax legislative developments in and outside the US.  This role will be reporting directly into Director, Global Tax Planning, and will also have input into the US IRS audit as it relates to tax planning strategies previously implemented.  Also, it will interact with the company’s Treasury Department on tax issues related to international finance.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Research into various international and domestic tax planning issues including, operational and transactional tax planning, global cash repatriation, intercompany financing, treaty analysis, and other international and domestic planning opportunities as they develop.
  • Coordinate with Director, Tax Planning, and other US and regional tax leaders on transactions with international implications.
  • With guidance from Director, Tax Planning, identify, evaluate, implement, and document international and domestic tax planning strategies to minimize the global effective tax rate and minimize cash taxes, including modeling the financial impact of tax planning strategies to the company’s overall effective tax rate.
  • Coordinate the development and assist with the implementation of cross border tax planning strategies with local tax and non-tax personnel.
  • Assist with M&A transactions, including due diligence, transaction structure, tax-efficient financing, and contractual review.
  • Provide input on IRS audit matters that relate to tax planning strategies previously implemented.
  • Analyze proposed US and foreign legislation to determine the impact on the Company’s global tax position.
  • Interact with the Tax Operations group on a quarterly basis to analyze the non-US projected and actual effective tax rate, and to analyze the tax accounting implications of a tax planning strategy, including drafting internal tax memorandum to support financial statement positions.
  • Close interaction with non-tax personnel, including treasury, finance, operations, and legal.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance or related field
  • CPA certification strongly preferred;  MST and/or JD is a plus.
  • 5 plus years of corporate tax planning background with extensive experience in US international outbound issues.
  • Strategic planning background and experience dealing with tax accounting implications of transactional tax projects.
  • Track record of working close with various groups within a corporate structure including treasury, finance, operations, legal, etc.
  • Track record of problem-solving, strategic/creative thinking and outstanding business communication skills.
  • Technical skills with foreign tax credit provisions, Subpart F, GILTI, FDII, BEAT, CAMT, E&P analysis, basis calculations.
  • Technical understanding of the OECD Pillar 2 regime and latest regulations and guidance.

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $104,000 to $143,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
