Current opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced Manager or Senior Manager to join our growing Business Services team. The Business Services group ensures our clients’ success by adding value in every aspect of their business, investment and personal affairs, through the provision of world-class advisory and compliance services. BDO's advisers understand growth and success in the Australian and international markets and focus on helping our clients understand their activities and provide practical strategies to help them succeed.

In this role, you’ll work with High Net Wealth (and emerging High Net Wealth) Individuals and their associated entities, to develop strategies and solutions to their complex, sensitive and unusual matters. The services we provide include strategic advice with respect to various disciplines, including taxation, superannuation (including SMSFs), estate planning, asset protection, succession planning, philanthropy, structuring, and family office services.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the operational responsibilities of a Business Services team to deliver high quality services to clients
  • Produce, review and manage the delivery of client advice and outputs in relation to the strategic advice disciplines described above
  • Review and manage the delivery of complex financial statements, consolidated financial statements and Income Tax Returns prepared by team members
  • Preparation and analysis of complex management accounting reports
  • Assisting with the design, development and analysis of financial reporting models
  • Conducting tax compliance reviews of tax returns, FBT returns, GST and Payroll tax
  • Advising on tax planning issues, implementing tax planning and savings ideas for clients
  • Setting budgets for specific jobs and explaining parameters and scope to team
  • Developing external networks and market presence
  • Mentor and coach junior and intermediate team members

Skills/Attributes Required:

  • Achieves successful outcomes through clear and effective communications and the ability to relate to others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Very strong commercial skills with high levels of wider business acumen
  • Good problem-solver
  • Good understanding of legal research, interpretation and application
  • Able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, and ability to explain complex issues simply
  • Self-driven and assumes responsibility and accountability
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to mentor and coach team members
  • Collaborative and solution-focused
  • Ability to monitor progress and remain 'across' jobs; owning them and striving to adhere to short and long-term deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong digital skills including a good working knowledge of MS Office applications, cloud accounting platforms and add-ons
  • Willingness and ability to bring new ideas to the table

Qualifications and Experience required:

  • Prior accounting, taxation/superannuation and advisory experience is essential to your success in this role
  • CA/CPA qualified
  • General consulting exposure to a range of clients
