Summary: Manages the incoming flow of indirect materials & services to meet the production requirements of the business units, in order to ensure high quality products and on-time shipments. The role will involve managing RFP processes, contract negotiation, vendor management i.e. interface / negotiations with key suppliers and maintenance of supplier records. Reports directly to the Purchasing Manager. Requirements: Must have a minimum of 3 years previous purchasing experience ideally gained within a high volume manufacturing environment. Good knowledge of computer software MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. essential. Preferably have a formal materials qualification, e.g. IIPMM / APICS. Must be able to prioritize, organize tasks and work to specified deadlines. Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Must be able to work in a team environment. Must understand the principles of WCM, JIT manufacturing, Kanbans, FIFO etc. Previous experience of MRP systems preferable. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Management of RFP processes and supplier contract negotiation. Co-ordinate purchasing activities relating to suppliers, equipment and tools in accordance with the company documented requirements. Act as support and back up for direct materials procurement (i.e. MRP, supplier management, etc). Interface on an on-going basis with vendors, establishes/ agree schedules/ due dates which support Company requirements. Maintenance of supplier records / Non-Disclosure Agreements. Work with the materials team and operations in the area of customer care as necessary. Work with the materials team with regard to customer schedules to ensure on-time delivery of finished product to customer. Assists with and leads the negotiation of the purchase of indirect materials, i.e. packaged goods for production; MRO, consumables and services and constantly strives to lower overall material costs. Responsible for maintaining/reporting vendor measurement to establish quarterly performance and reporting findings in line with documented procedures. Interfaces closely with production/business units and other departments on a daily basis. Compliance to all site Environmental, Health and Safety requirements training, and regulations. Compliance to all local site company policies, procedures and corporate policies. Perform additional duties at the request of the direct supervisor. Act in accordance with the company's guiding principles and adherence to the corporate Code of Conduct.
