The purpose of this role is to provide accurate financial information and finance support to management teams statutory bodies and regulatory authorities.

The role is also responsible for ensuring the internal accounting produces accurate, timely and effective data and reports to enable management of the asset management expenditure within the company, currently in excess of £20m per annum.

Our client is an expanding national organisation with a turnover in excess of £80mil and the central office function is based in Chippenham.

Description

Asset Management


  • Produce monthly management account information for all aspects of the Group Asset Management (AM) function including both capital and revenue expenditure, performance and stores monitoring.
  • Produce annual budgets and reforecasts for the Group Asset Management function in close liaison with the AM team and with the Finance Managers.
  • Monitor staffing and other costs and report efficiency of these operations
  • Critically review expenditure and forecasts in partnership with budget managers and highlight any variances between expected performance and actuals and investigate and report areas of concern.
  • To foster good relationships with all relevant Asset management staff so that issues can be raised in a trusting and open environment. Be able to negotiate with Budget holders and managers to encourage sound financial management by all staff.

  • Management Accounts


  • Produce monthly management accounting information such as accruals lists and journals for the Finance Manager.
  • Monitor the current year forecast position each month and agree the latest position with each Budget Manager.
  • Preparation of other supporting schedules for inclusion within the management and statutory accounts.
  • Respond to queries from Budget Managers and provide additional analysis or information where required.
  • Assist in the management of the Group's cash flow in accordance with the Association's treasury management policy.
  • Monthly reconciliation of control accounts, including inter company balances.

  • Financial Statements


  • Produce statutory accounts relevant notes and workings within areas of responsibility.
  • Liaise with External Audit as necessary and comply with all statutory and legal requirements.

  • Budgeting


  • Agree annual budgets with Budget Managers in line with the Group budget timetable.
  • Produce a budget reporting pack including supplementary schedules as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget (including the budget loaders and budget templates) in line with the Group budget timetable.
  • Reconcile the annual budget and forecast updates with the business plan prediction.

  • Carry out any other duties as appropriate to this post as necessary or as reasonably requested by the Group Head of Finance.

    Profile

    To be considered for this role you must be able to demonstrate the following;

    • Degree or AAT qualified and currently studying towards CIMA or ACCA
    • Understanding of Internal Audit controls and procedures, Asset Management, Fixed Asset accounting at valuation
    • Knowledge of producing management accounts, financial accounts and budgets is essential along with the ability to review and challenge financial performance through variance analysis
    • Strong MS Excel skills are essential along with the ability to quickly pick up the companies bespoke IT system
