Technical Underwriting Team Manager

Underwriting Manager - Property & Casualty - South East - Brighton - Permanent

One of the UK's finest insurance companies is currently looking for a senior underwriting manager based from their offices based on the south east coast.

The organisation you will be joining is a business division of a much larger insurance company that is proud of winning awards that honours efforts of commercial success and contributions to society.

The purpose of this position is to provide high level case underwriting decisions and advice to enable the delivery of the underwriting strategy, quality and performance whilst managing the day to day activities and performance of underwriters and support staff.

Responsibilities

• Act as the UW senior referral point for property and casualty classes of business and cascade technical expertise
• Ensure UW quality in line with UW strategy
• Development and coaching of UW staff technically
• Plan and monitor and conduct where appropriate both the technical and quality control self-audits
• Provide technical input in to UW manual for region and wider business where required
• Act as a market representative for UW matters within the region and wider business internally
• Understand and operate within regulatory framework and identify and escalate any risks to the business in line with company policy
• Resolve complaints and breaches in line with company policy
• Where appropriate, act as company UW representative with 3rd party providers and business partners

You will lead and manage the team to deliver corporate strategy and contribute to the development and implementation of customer service strategy.

The role requires someone to be ACII qualified or have good progress towards and have experience of leading and managing a commercial underwriting team. Knowledge required of E Trade, property owners, stakeholder management, MI Reporting, pricing and demonstrable market and insurance industry knowledge.
