As a Senior Tax Analyst, you will be part of a small, dynamic team that handles all tax issues for PEAK6 and its subsidiary businesses.  You will report to the Senior Tax Manager for PEAK6 and work closely with the Senior Tax Manager for Apex Fintech Solutions, and you will have plenty of exposure to the Head of Tax for PEAK6 and other senior PEAK6 leaders.  You will work hard, and you will learn a lot.  You will be directly responsible for:


  • Tax returns. Prepare and review federal and state tax return and tax return workbooks for PEAK6 and its portfolio of partnership and corporate businesses. Work with external return preparers to ensure tax returns are filed timely and accurately. 


  • Tax provisions. Prepare annual federal and state income tax provisions for PEAK6’s corporate portfolio, and prepare return to provision work papers with associated journal entries.


  • Tax controllership. Prepare and maintain tax basis schedules, tax account reconciliations, and other controllership activities, while working to improve and automate workbooks.


  • Tax forecasts. Prepare quarterly forecasts of the company’s taxable income and tax cash needs. As well as quarterly investor estimates.


  • Tax compliance. Assist in ensuring compliance with all tax laws and respond to any state and federal tax notices and audits.


  • Business initiatives and acquisitions. Assist with tax research and accounting issues related to new business initiatives and acquisitions.


  • 3+ years of relevant partnership and corporate tax experience at an accounting firm or private tax department

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

  • ACCA/CPA preferred but open to candidates actively pursuing their ACCA/CPA as well.

  • Big 4 / large accounting firm experience preferred

  • Proven ability to organize and manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong analytical ability and perseverance to solve problems independently with high attention to detail

  • Strong desire to learn new things and grow within your profession 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft office products with an emphasis on Excel; experience with OneSource preferred
