We have a vacancy for an Employment Tax Manager to work in our Kent office tax team. This is a full time permanent role with flexible working and progression opportunities.
You will work closely with the tax partners and directors and will manage the delivery of employment taxes and share scheme work to our Kent client base which ranges from family businesses, entrepreneurial and innovative small and medium businesses to quoted groups.
You will be involved in a variety of compliance, tax advisory, structuring, project based and transaction work, including due diligence work and the preparation of reports. You will also be involved in business development initiatives and working with the team to generate new work.
You should be qualified ACA/CTA (or equivalent) with relevant, practical employment tax / share scheme experience. You will be expected to use your own initiative and work as part of a team, liaising with other tax specialists, audit and corporate finance colleagues.
The role requirements
- ACA/CTA or equivalent qualification essential.
- Significant employment tax / share scheme experience on a range of compliance and advisory projects.
- A passion for client service.
- Display an energy and enthusiasm and a focus on achieving results.
Your technical skills
Ability to deliver general employment tax consultancy advice in areas such as:
- Employment status of workers / IR35.
- Employment related securities (ERS) advice.
- Share scheme advice, including EMI scheme set-up advice.
- Due diligence work.
- Employer compliance reviews, internal audit or health check work.
- Class 1A NIC and P11D reporting.
- Expenses and benefits tax treatment.
- PAYE Settlement Agreements.
- Remuneration planning – previous exposure to bonus, share scheme and salary sacrifice planning is desirable.
- Construction Industry Scheme.
- Termination payments.
- Assisting clients with the preparation of various statutory forms, including P11D’s, share scheme and ERS compliance reporting.
Your direct client responsibilities
- Developing and managing the employment tax relationship with clients.
- Leading work and being actively involved in the provision of advisory projects to clients (both proactively and reactively), including clients of other departments and offices. Reporting directly to tax partners and directors.
- Identifying opportunities to take additional services to clients and contacts.
- Leading and supporting business development initiatives.
- Taking primary responsibility for financial performance on your client / project work.
- Billing responsibility for your work, balancing the requirement to maximise recovery and manage client expectations.
- Considering and managing risk in all interactions with clients.
- Showing a sense of urgency and understanding of how the delivery of work (including speed, attention to detail, and quality) impacts the Firm’s ability to serve our clients.
