Anti-Financial Crime (AFC)
Our AFC team is responsible for protecting Deutsche Bank from financial and reputational losses incurred by financial crimes by assessing, controlling and mitigating risks. Risk types related to Anti-Financial Crime are consolidated in a comprehensive and effective risk management framework that covers Anti-Money-Laundering, Sanctions & Embargoes, Anti-Bribery & Corruption as well as Anti-Fraud & Investigations.

Regulation, Compliance and Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) protect the integrity and reputation of Deutsche Bank. They manage the Bank's risks and help to avoid unintentional rule breaches and conflicts of interest. At the same time, they also advise us on ethical conduct and governance issues and keep our organisation up-to-date on regulatory and political challenges.

Overview:

The purpose of the Financial Crime Investigations team is to ensure that the systems it is tasked with surveilling are at all times being used in accordance with the legal and regulatory Anti-Money Laundering framework and to escalate issues of concern to AFC Management in a timely manner. This includes the escalations from multiple areas such as BIU, ABAC, Advisory, and any Unusual Activity Reports.

As an Investigator based in Hong Kong reporting to the FCI Special Investigations Team Leader and as part of the wider APAC AFC Team, you will lead and conduct quality investigations, demonstrate a good code of conduct and uphold standards of good practice.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhering to an organisational culture that places high priority on effective investigations and adherence to sound internal controls, including standards of conduct, integrity and ethical behaviour for the FCI Special Investigations Unit.
  • Acting as an AML / ATF Subject Matter Expert (SME), especially around investigations and the AML / ATF trending and typologies.
  • Resolving AML/CTF Investigations before these issues have a negative impact on the bank's financial position, reputation or become a regulatory issue.
  • Review and analyze cases to ensure that investigations are accomplished to address activity that contravene the bank's or regulatory policy. Ensure these occurrences are documented in the case for regulatory/audit level reviews.
  • Ensure the risk coverage for the bank from an AML/CTF perspective.
  • Write recommendation of SAR reports to regulatory bodies.
  • Investigate cases and associated transactions and identify potential areas of risk (financial, reputational, and regulatory) within the transactions and associated client relationship review.
  • Internet and external database searches to ensure no adverse information (RAI) is noted on the client/parties.
  • Review internal SAR escalations and fully investigate to determine if the Case requires a SAR.
  • Handle complex and confidential cases with little or no guidance.
  • Accountable to ensure the audit trail is complete for all Cases.
  • Ensure all Cases are completed within the mandated timeframe for the filing of SARs.
  • Identify current transaction typologies, keep abreast of emerging ones, and apply said typologies to the working of the cases.

You will have:
  • Bachelor's/ Master's degree in Criminology, Mathematics, Economics, Business disciplines.
  • 5-7 years of direct experience in Financial Crime, Forensics, Investigations, Regulatory or Law Enforcement preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Good at creating and delivering impactful presentations.
  • Should be able to interpret complex requirements and be a self-starter.
  • Solid project management/work flow management will be viewed positively, as will previous management experience.
