What is the opportunity?
We have a fantastic opportunity to join our successful Group Internal Audit team to provide independent, challenging and risk focused assurance, insight and opinion to the Group and support the Group in achieving its strategic objectives.
You will lead assurance activity and provide subject matter expertise in a broad spectrum of risk areas. This is a visible and impactful position within GIA and you will develop a broad range of relationships across the organisation.
In this role, you will:
- Be responsible for leading individual assurance projects from scoping through to reporting, deliver effective audit opinions with agility and in a changing environment and contribute in the wider GIA department strategic initiatives.
- Build strong and sustainable relationships across Bank of Ireland in accountable divisions; working closely with the Audit Director and other Audit Managers to ensure that an appropriate assurance programme is devised and performed across the Bank.
- Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the key priorities, risks and challenges facing the Group.
- Act as GIA risk lead for assigned risk types. Accountable for providing ongoing monitoring and contribute to our periodic audit Control Environment opinion in relation to your assigned risk area and support broader assurance planning.
- Work with colleagues in GIA to evaluate internal controls and processes to provide objective and challenging risk based assurance through the planning, execution and reporting of audits/reviews.
What will make you stand out?
We are looking for someone with a strategic approach and an ability to understand and communicate technical issues in a business context. This will take excellent written and oral communication skills and attention to detail.
Business and Industry knowledge in one or more of the following key subject areas; Data, Payments, Information Technology, Change delivery and Third-Party management is a must as well as an understanding of and experience in technology and/or business change delivery risk.
Methodology & Analytical Skills with a solid understanding of internal control concepts with the ability to evaluate and determine the adequacy of controls by considering business objectives and risks in an integrated manner will be a key part of this role.
Finally you will need to have a track record that demonstrates good judgement, drive, agility and resilience!

Group Internal Audit (GIA), forms the 3rd line of defence for the Bank of Ireland Group, our purpose is 'to Help Make Bank of Ireland Better'.
To fulfil this purpose, GIA carries out risk based assignments, covering Group businesses and functions. GIA also provides additional insight through its attendance at key governance fora and committees across the Group.
With a group-wide remit we have a deep insight into all of the Group's activities and access to the most senior levels within the Group.
This is a hybrid role and can be done anywhere in the Republic of Ireland with the primary office location of Baggot Plaza, Dublin. Travel will be required for in-person collaboration - exact frequency to be agreed with manager.
