Financial Crime Compliance aligns current activities within Global Risk and helps to build these into a more integrated framework to conduct Customer Due Diligence which enables HSBC to manage financial crime risk more effectively. It builds stronger controls to improve the way Financial Crime Compliance risks are managed in order to spot gaps as well as trends so that the team can take action. It proactively gathers and analyses financial intelligence in a smart way so that suspicious transactions, activities or connections can be identified and we can adequately protect our customers from the threat of financial crime.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Head of Quality Assurance, Financial Crime Investigations.
Principal Responsibilities
- Establishing a robust Quality Assurance (QA) culture across External Investigative Reporting that focuses on improving service quality, minimising cost of errors and poor investigation, providing structured feedback on an on-going basis, cross training, individual investigator quality results and working with the central team to eliminate non value activities and improving quality input
- To lead the definition and deployment of the Quality Assurance ("QA") function, preserving its independence from External Investigative Reporting investigations, with no conflict of interest and ensuring a responsive structure exists within the QA process for providing constructive and consistent feedback to Investigators, Team Leaders and all relevant Stakeholders
- QA management of process performance in country, including robust error/defect analysis (cost & quality) based on the standard QA methodology and risk assessment
- Identify performance improvement opportunities and work with key stakeholders to realise
- Support the deliverance of appropriate training/refresher programmes to improve process and quality of investigations, automation and dashboard reporting, calibration and coaching
- Review, question and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate the resolution of differences in productivity/MI across regions
- Substantial experience working in AML and FCC compliance, including transaction monitoring and SAR/STR filing
- Knowledge of CDD and client reviews, including relationship reviews on a periodic or trigger basis
- Experience in undertaking investigations/analysis into customer activity with the ability to draw inferences from the information
- Ability to analyze large amounts of data efficiently, draw conclusions on what the data means and actions required
- Experience in managing a successful team in a pressured, turn-around time driven environment
- Experience in compilation of reports and/or SARs reporting experience
- Strong spoken and written communication skills with experience of sharing information effectively, in a clear, concise and professional manner
- Consistently achieves objectives set. Proactively takes action to improve performance
- Strong organizational skills. Collaborative working style
- Persistence and courage of their own convictions to follow up on noted quality issues and monitor agreed management actions to address
- Experience of personally complying with business processes, rules and regulations
- Previous AML experience within a universal service bank preferred. Auditing or assurance experience is an advantage
- ICA ML or ACAMS qualification an advantage
- Ability to maintain control, direction and motivation in an ever-changing environment
- Highly effective in working with all levels of management and staff
- Strong relationship management skills with the ability to manage & engage multiple stakeholders, meet their expectations, negotiate in situations of conflicting interests and influence key decision makers in a positive manner
