The Audit Assistant / Senior will play a key role in supporting the audit team in conducting comprehensive financial audits and assurance engagements. As an Audit Assistant, you will work closely with seniors and managers to execute audit procedures and document findings. As an Audit Senior, you will take on more responsibility, leading audit engagements, supervising juniors, and providing valuable insights to clients. Responsibilities:

Audit Execution:

  • Assist in the planning and execution of financial, operational and compliance audits.
  • Conduct substantive testing, analytical reviews, and risk assessments under the guidance of seniors or independently as a Senior.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of financial statements and related disclosures.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare comprehensive audit workpapers, documenting audit procedures, findings and conclusions.
  • Contribute to the drafting of audit reports with clear and actionable recommendations.
  • Review workpapers and reports prepared by junior team members if in a Senior role.

Client Interaction:

  • Collaborate effectively with client during audit engagements, demonstrating a high level of professionalism and responsiveness.
  • Address client inquiries and concerns promptly and courteously.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Stay updated on developments and changes in Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Apply technical knowledge to solve complex audit issues and challenges.

Leadership and Mentoring (for Senior position):

  • Lead audit engagements, overseeing the entire audit process and ensuring the team's efficient and effective performance.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, supporting their professional growth and development.

Requirements:

For Audit Assistant:

  • Candidate must possess at lease a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent. Those pursuing a professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CPA) will be an added advantage.
  • Previous experience in auditing or accounting roles is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and audit procedures.
  • Proficiency in using audit software and MS Office applications.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English.
  • Able to travel outstation for work assignments.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and improve on knowledge and skills.

For audit senior (in addition to above):

  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CPA).
  • At least 2 years of relevant audit experience for the Senior role.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and ability to guide and mentor junior team members.
