Job Description

About the role:

At Next we have a great opportunity for a Tax Accountant to join our Group Tax function, which sits within the wider Group Finance department, located at our Head office in Enderby Leicestershire. The role will be to ensure compliance with UK and wider global corporate tax legislation, reporting to the Group Corporate Tax Manager.

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparation of UK corporation tax compliance requirements including tax returns, quarterly instalment calculations and Corporate Interest Restriction filings
  • Assisting with preparation of information to provide to overseas tax advisers
  • Preparation of half-yearly and full year tax provisions and associated reporting schedule
  • Preparation of UK statutory accounts tax workings and disclosures
  • Assisting with the preparation of group R&D and capital allowances claims
  • Supporting with Transfer Pricing and Country by Country Reporting requirements and filing obligations
  • Assisting with the preparation of the group’s PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA) calculations
  • Supporting with the preparation of the group’s Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) filings
  • Monitoring international tax policy developments and determine the potential impacts to the group of new legislation including Digital Sales Taxes and environment taxes
  • Assisting with managing relations and enquires with HMRC and other tax authorities
  • Supporting the team with tax governance and other ad hoc tax matters as required

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualified CTA or equivalent (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc.) with relevant experience 2+ years PQE
  • Knowledge of tax accounting and tax compliance
  • Understanding of retail tax issues is useful but not essential
  • Strong working knowledge of Alphatax
  • The ability to meet deadlines, solve problems with strong analytical skills with detail orientation
  • Comfortable dealing with employees from different parts of the business
  • Knowledge of other taxes is beneficial
