Head of Audit, Risk & Assurance

Description

• Responsible for the Audit, Risk and Assurance function of a leading billion pound manufacturing Company. Reporting directly to the Executive Chairman and the Chief Executive on all matters relating to Internal Audit, internal control and assurance.

• Devise and execute a risk based plan of audit reviews covering the full spectrum of activities undertaken by the business across the UK, Europe and ROW.

• Devise and execute a risk based plan of compliance reviews covering the adherence to business policy, procedures and instructions.

• Cultivate and foster an awareness on the criticality of business risk management to senior executives. Report directly to the Risk Committee.

• Providing pro-active advice on governance, control and risk management, subject to Internal Audits independence requirements.

• Participate in strategic corporate change projects and provide inputs on controls and risks.

• Perform investigations and special projects at the request of the Executive Board, Senior Management and the Chief Executive.

• Development and implementation of policies and procedures for the auditing and assurance activities through the creation of appropriate charters and departmental manuals.

• Delivery of training initiatives covering Sanctions, Anti-Bribery & Corruption, Competition Compliance, Code of Conduct and Cyber Security across the business.

• Facilitation of workshops to deliver specific outputs

• Advise operations and corporate functions regarding the adequacy of policy, procedures and appropriate controls.

• Oversee performance of key control testing on an on-going basis and ensure that any deficiencies noted are remediated and retested.

• Coordinate and monitor successful completion of E-Learning compliance programmes across the business.

• Maintenance and updating of the Delegated Authorities for the business including foreign entities

Profile

• Chartered Internal Auditor or CCAB accountant with significant post-qualification experience in Internal Audit

• Demonstrable experience in leading an impactful Internal Audit team in a complex environment

• Experience of synthesising complex information, regulations and policies, translating these into impactful advice and communications and providing best fit solutions

• Demonstrable ability and experience of providing strategic internal audit advice and recommendations to all levels of the organisation

• Ability to analyse and resolve complex risk management and internal control problems involving multiple stakeholders

• Demonstrable ability to/ experience of handling potentially difficult situations in a professional, tactful and confidential manner

• Ability to adapt approach to take into account cultural sensitivities and still deliver a quality audit product

• Ability to plan own work and motivate others to meet tight deadlines

• Ability to present complex issues in a simple and engaging manner

• Strong analytic skills, independence of mind, and organisational abilities

• Professional, confident, 'can-do' approach

• Multi-Site experience would be desirable but not essential
