Job overview

The post holder will be a member of the Corporate Nursing / Quality & Safety Team and will directly support the Head of Quality, Safety and Assurance in the development, implementation and monitoring of robust Quality, Safety and patient / Donor Experience programs that span across a range of highly complex services within the Velindre University NHS Trust "the Trust". They will work with a number of internal and external agencies, Executive Directors, Divisional and governance / regulatory teams to support the development and delivery of the strategic Quality, Safety and Experience Programme.

As a senior professional the post holder will be a proactive role-model with a high level of visibility and partnership working across the Trust. The post holder will need to demonstrate leadership skills, and specialist knowledge to promote and deliver a quality and safety learning culture in which high quality patient and donor care is achieved.

Main duties of the job

A key part of the role will be to deputise for the Head of Quality and Safety as and when required. In addition:
  • To support the development and implementation of the quality assurance framework and the requirements of the Duty of Quality and Duty of Candour.
  • To promote quality improvement and patient safety across all commissioned services through supporting and assisting on specific programmes.
  • To contribute to the strategic thinking of the quality agenda, including involvement in the development and monitoring of long-term strategic plans for the development of the Trust's Quality Management System and developing a range of ways in which quality across services can be assured and continually improved.
  • Through the provision of effective strategy and planning skills and expertise, the post holder will demonstrate behaviors aligned to the Trust's values; will through a compassionate leadership approach support the development of a culture of informed decision making, robust planning and continuous improvement, with a focus on delivery. This includes working with Corporate Teams and Divisions to ensure that appropriate strategic and operational planning support and expertise is readily available, working with others, to develop a practical approach that supports improvements in patient / donor experience, outcomes and care.
  • Interpret NHS and national policies relating to the Quality, Safety and Experience to translate into Trust policy, procedures, strategy and guidance.

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge in a number of management disciplines
  • Working knowledge of the Health and Social Care (Quality and Engagement) (Wales) Act 2020.
  • Extensive working knowledge of Welsh Government's 'Putting Things Right' (2011) Regulations and guidance.
  • Extensive experience of using complex data systems, data interrogation and analysis and presenting complex facts
  • Educated to Masters Level

  • Professional Registration: NMC or HCPC
  • IQT Silver
