Current opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant or Accountant to join our Outsourced Accounting team which is experiencing rapid growth. This team is part of our BDO Business Services team.

The Outsourced Accounting team provide finance function services to a diverse and exciting client base. These services include bookkeeping, payroll, BAS preparation, forecasting, digital application advisory, API development, and management accounting services, and can include full Virtual CFO services. This service stack provides plenty of opportunities to grow and develop for a candidate that is committed to ongoing professional development.

The successful candidate will work closely with our clients and should be curious about what drives our clients so that we can help them achieve their goals using automation and our experienced team. This role requires excellent communication skills and a desire to stay at the cutting edge of current technological advancements in the provision of our services. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Preparation of the outsourced finance function services for our clients, including but not limited to; bookkeeping, payroll, BAS preparation, and management accounts.
  • Assist with one-off finance transformation projects (e.g., MYOB to Xero transitions) and the design and implementation of the relevant apps within the app ecosystem.
  • Assist with ongoing advisory work, including budgeting and forecasting and attendance at quarterly performance review meetings with the clients.
  • Be the direct client contact on the outsourced finance function engagements.
  • Review the work of more junior staff members as required.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prior bookkeeping and management accounts preparation experience.
  • Experience with posting of accruals/prepayments and other month-end close journals.
  • CA/CPA qualified or currently undertaking these studies.
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Experienced with Xero (essential).
  • Knowledge of Fathom, Approval Max and Dext (desired).
  • A genuine excitement to work with our clients and to help them grow.
  • Self-motivated and can multi-task and manage workload effectively.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to work.
