We are recruiting an Accountant to join our Financial Operations team. This is a large team with a diverse range of responsibilities and many avenues for growth and development. Finance operations is the hub of our finance function, affording team members insight into many interesting areas of our business.

The Finance Operations team is responsible for the oversight of the trial balance at an IFRS and solvency ii level for our life companies. This involves operation of key controls for ensuring our accounts are complete and accurate. Feeding into multiple finance stakeholders to deliver the overall suite of reporting at both a regulator and statutory level.
This is a large team with a diverse range of responsibilities and many avenues for growth and development. Finance operations is the hub of our finance function, affording team members insight into many interesting areas of the business.
The role holder will be required to support all these reporting activities for the allocated entities across the Life Division.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete a range of standard Accountancy and / or analytical functions (including producing financial reports - performance, TBs, controls and OSP oversight, providing analysis of data, statutory reporting, etc) as required by the specific department to meet business and regulatory requirements.
- Apply appropriate quality assurance controls to all work produced in the team to ensure the accuracy and validity of the Company's financial information.
- Undertake analysis of a range of business data and reports to provide recommendations on commercial viability and tax efficiency of proposed business strategies.
- As required, lead, develop, coach and mentor others to maximise their contribution and ensure they are fairly rewarded.
- To support the successful delivery of designated finance activity throughout the project change cycle. Deliveries include accounting requirements captured, reviewed, appropriate scope, validated against IT designs and implemented into BAU efficiently and effectively.
- Drive the on-going delivery of robust, effective and efficient operational finance processes and controls and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Ensure all data is prepared and reported in accordance with relevant reporting standards and business reporting requirements.
- Maintaining and applying knowledge of multiple reporting basis and area of expertise.
- Communicating complex accounting/finance procedures and principles with multiple stakeholders across the business both in the UK and potentially globally.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Qualified or part qualified with relevant experience accountant with knowledge and skills in finance operations and reporting processes.
- Strong task management and a proactive mind-set.
- Understanding of and experience with double entry accounting.
- Proficient in use of excel.
Desirable
- Technical skills and knowledge of accounting and reporting processes in a financial services organisation (preferably a life insurer).
- Oracle ledger experience.
- Experience with complex data analysis.
