Graduate Trainee Accountant

Accounting and Finance

• Report to the Finance and Data Manager, and work with the Senior Leadership Team and wider team, on all finance and HR data and information

• Maintain accurate records for all transactions and bank reconciliations in our financial system, Xero

• Purchase ledger control - process accounts payable invoices and prepare required payments

• Sales ledger control - co-ordinate with the fundraising and operations team to ensure accurate invoicing to schools, donors and corporate partners

• Support the Finance and Data Manager at month end close and monthly financial reporting, including preparing monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations

• Support the Finance and Data Manager and team to prepare the annual business plan, audit and forecasts

• Support the Finance and Data Manager in preparing and reviewing monthly payroll files

• Carry out the payroll process (including pension processing), liaising with line managers and our payroll provider

• Support the Finance and Data Manager and fundraising team to track restricted funding

• Support and liaise with the wider Bookmark team to provide financial input and support on projects and day to day finance related queries

• Collate, input and maintain accurate information on our systems, including Salesforce CRM and SharePoint

• Participate in the continual improvement of knowledge capture and management

• Work closely with the Chief Finance and Operations Officer and team, to provide input into and propose process and procedure improvements

Power BI and Data

• Support the Finance and Data Manager by confirming that PowerBI visuals reconcile to the underlying data for reporting

• Maintain and make updates to our datasets for schools, volunteers and reading programmes

• Update and send periodic reports out to the wider Charity

• Assist with the collection and maintenance of our impact data
