The role

The University of Bristol is working with the City Council, local communities, and industry to develop a £500m campus in the Enterprise Zone at Temple Quarter. With a focus on digital, business and social innovation, this exciting programme will bring immense benefits to the city of Bristol and beyond and will bring together engineers, social scientists, and industry partners.

The University is committed to using the Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus (TQEC) to reimagine what it means to be a civic university for the next century, by ensuring that the new campus delivers life changing opportunities, organisations, and individuals across the city of Bristol.

We are looking for a commercially minded and driven Head of Finance to lead the development and execution of the financial strategy in respect of the development of a new campus. This includes overseeing the current Main Campus development and working on the future business cases of Phase 2 buildings.

What will you be doing?

Helping to launch a brand-new campus at the University of Bristol, you will support the institution in the transformation period with the campus opening in 3 years.

You will work closely with colleagues in the TQEC programme and wider stakeholders to ensure that all financial aspects of the multidisciplinary campus come together, creating a coherent financial plan that supports the Temple Quarter vision and University strategy, using financial best practice and professional standards.

It`s a hands-on role that will be responsible for all financial aspects of Temple Quarter development, from Management Accounts & month end to supporting business plans & running investment appraisals. The Phase 1 of the project is in a construction phase, so diligent cost monitoring is required.

You should apply if

  • You are excited by the Temple Quarter programme and its vision.
  • You like to work independently but also cooperate with various teams outside of finance.
  • You think commercially, can perform complex financial modelling but can present the outputs in a simple format.
  • You don`t accept status quo, want to improve processes, and come up with new solutions.
  • You are excited to work on a big scale regeneration project.
  • You are curious and want to learn about all aspects of the new campus, from construction to site mobilisation; from developing business cases to implementing them.
