The Role
Summary
Key individual contributor role in UK Upstream Reporting and Controlling team with the exposure on senior stakeholders, responsible for the controlling and accounting for UK Upstream business. Senior Financial Controller will perform financial controlling and accounting activities, including Group, statutory and tax reporting, reserves review, accounting papers and guidelines. She/he will work collaboratively with R&A UK Upstream community, Finance in the Business, Tax, Treasury, colleagues in R&A and peers from other processes. The role will have a mix of deliverables including the controlling and reporting activities.

Accountabilities
- Advise on the accounting transactions
- Prepare Financial Unusual document (FUN), GARP, accounting policy dispensations
- Divestments (contingent consideration, post-completion rights and obligations)
- Impairment assessment and other business valuations (Group, Statutory, Treasury)
- Fixed Assets accounting advice on the complex transactions, including decommissioning
- Cash Flow and Working Capital analysis, Non-Cash Adjustment (NCA) advice
- Analysis of the quarterly variances
- Lease accounting and controlling
- Reserves annual and quarterly review
- Legal Entity Controller’s activities
- Statutory Reporting and audit
- Improvement agenda (process improvements)
Requirements
- Background in Accounting, Controlling, Financial Controls, Reporting and Analysis
- IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) knowledge
- Ability to translate business context into the accounting transactions and reporting
- Ability to translate contracts into accounting notes, and swiftly familiarize to new business topics
- Analytical, problem solving and presentation skills
- Pro-active attitude to work with virtual and natural teams across cultures
Influencing skills
- Communication and presentation skills, and interpersonal relationship building
- Ability to work in a changing environment
