The Role
  • Shell operates some of the world’s largest and most complex oil & gas exploration and production projects. Hence, we are seeking talented finance professionals to integrate into the Reporting and Analysis-Business Interface team to help enable our growth ambitions.
  • The Americas R&A-Business Interface team is strategically placed alongside the explorations, development and operating finance teams to support the successful delivery of these projects within very dynamic operating, regulatory and commercial circumstances. This proximity to the projects provides Finance a distinctive view to deliver value through meaningful performance analysis, commercial insight and cost leadership.
  • The R&A PAR Analyst will provide support to the Integrated Gas (Trinidad & Tobago operations) Business Performance Management team, responsible for:
  • Support to IG Finance team including Finance Managers.
  • Support to IG Asset Finance Teams.
  • Supporting the Planning and Appraisal Managers, Business Finance managers and other Managers responsible for delivering IG goals.
The Trinidad &Tobago Oil and Gas market provides a unique opportunity for finance personnel. Traditionally a production based model, the rapid growth in development has resulted in challenging economics. FO R&A plays a very important role in supporting the journey. This exposure and connection into dynamic assets within a powerful portfolio provides a great development opportunity within Finance Operations.
This position will involve direct interaction with FitB, BPM team and the Asset Finance teams. This position offers a valuable opportunity to understand the complexities of the IG-Oil & Gas industry, to gain advanced level SAP and data structures comprehension. This position has been structured, to drive targeted growth in the quality of support that, FO R&A provides to Trinidad & Tobago Finance. Individual and team successes in achieving this growth will be highly visible.
To enable this in a more meaningful way, this position will be responsible for a variety of reporting requirements including MI / Reporting support for Development and Producing Assets, Projects and Functions that are directly responsible for delivery of Trinidad &Tobago business goals, identifying and periodical reporting of key metrics beyond the ones that are already captured on areas including historical costs, business plans and LE’s, development costs and competitor performance.
Primary responsibility and accountability for this position is BPM / Shell Share results view, Working Capital, B/S overview/ reviews, Month end activities and the following are other key accountabilities.
  • Preparation of Monthly Flash report for T&T Line of Business Including crisp and concise performance summary highlighting the focus areas to the T&T LT.
  • Produce Monthly T&T LT Pack, providing a comprehensive analysis and insights of the performance of the business during a reporting period.
  • Provide Quarterly analysis and commentary to BPR team covering T&T Opex, Capex, Production etc, comparing Current Quarter Vs Prior Quarter; Current Quarter of Current Year Vs Prior Year.
  • Delivering QPA Pack to the LT.
  • Support T&T BPM Team in handling unstructured and Adhoc requests from the Finance Leadership or Business Teams.
  • Play active role in initiating new business analysis based on the Business scenarios, external market conditions and highlight the same to the Business.  
  • Lead coordination of the end to end on Quarterly LE and Annual Business Plan and help FitB with consolidated view towards final review and sign-off
Dimensions: This is role is an Individual Contributor role.
  • Direct FitB Stakeholder Group – 1 to 5
  • Specific focus areas include understanding of the T&T Business Model, and of the T&T Business Goals
  • CI Initiatives – Good understanding of the business processes to challenge status quo, initiate and deliver CI projects
  • Being flexible with changing demands and staying focused on the top priorities of the business.
  • Interfacing with multiple disciplines and organizations across IG/UP (including teams that are represented within FO) and involvement with various initiatives. The challenge is to balance competing priorities and stay flexible.
  • Courage to develop and share reasoned opinions on the business with senior leaders and stand back from the business to provide an unbiased perspective.
  • Balancing the demands of supporting the business as a partner and maintaining independence to constructively challenge business decisions.
  • Possess the ability to work on different tasks concurrently often with tight deadlines.
  • Effectively managing the time zone differences when interfacing with disciplines and organizations across UA.
Additional Job Description
  • A Chartered or a Management Accountant (or equivalent) with 4 - 5 years or MBA / M.Com with experience of 8-10 years in Accounting and Business Finance Roles.
  • Highly developed financial and business analytical skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels including senior stakeholders.
  • Individual should be proactive, a creative and pragmatic thinker, looking beyond the scope of requests being made.
  • Clear and concise English communication, both orally and in writing, is a must.
  • Creativity & innovativeness in Problem solving and seeking solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to develop strong relationships with staff at all levels.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel is necessary.
  • Aspiration to Learn, Adaptability to Change and Desire to Grow is mandatory.
  • To accommodate time zones during critical month end work days, the Night Shift is worked during this period (maximum 5 days) and regular shift will be 2PM to 11PM
