Who are we?

We want to be the best place that any of our 6,800 colleagues have ever worked.

We're the UK's largest long-term savings and retirement business. We offer our 12 million customers products across our market-leading brands, including Standard Life, SunLife and ReAssure, with c.£259 billion of assets under administration. We're a FTSE 100 organisation that is tackling key issues such as transitioning our portfolio to net zero by 2050, and we're not done yet.

The role

As our Trainee Actuary you will support the business and our customers in line with the objectives of the department and carry out work in a manner that supports Phoenix's TCF focus and culture. Note that this role does include actuarial study support.

The role includes, but isn't limited to:

- Analysing output from actuarial models, to help calculate and populate out-of-model adjustments
- Preparing balance sheet, P&L and other ad-hoc reporting templates for use in Solvency II reporting
- Work closely with qualified actuaries, trainees and other finance professionals to ensure timely and accurate production of reporting templates
- Work on process driven reports, demonstrating attention to detail and being "Right first time"
- Setting out and maintaining high level of controls for audit purposes

You will collaborate closely with a wide range of teams and colleagues across the whole Group and offer growth, stretch and responsibility to the right person to really make a difference at Phoenix Group.

As part of our actuarial programme you'll be studying towards becoming a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA). You'll be given a generous and fully supported study package that includes paid leave and funding for revision materials, including tutorials. You will be given the flexibility to make a study plan that works for you and will join our internal Actuarial community, which organises Continuous Professional Development (CPD), Professional Skills Training and networking events for anyone part or fully qualified.

What are we looking for?
