Operations

  • Ensuring that finances are understood and actioned:
  • Collecting the right detail on recoveries, utilisations, provisions etc and feeding into dept meeting/Performance managers and partners on this
  • Championing a more effective billing process
  • Ensuring that team keep on top of client code admin and billing
  • Ensuring that there are documented department processes (client take on, post, how we use M Files etc)
  • Ensure correct training, take up and use of our technologies (M Files, Alphatax, Interaction, Egress etc)
  • Chase outstanding timesheets, Billing information and WIP provisions
  • Oversee Post allocation to ensure that Post is actioned on a timely basis.
  • Review PDM New client set up code to ensure time is transferred to client codes when established
  • Oversee KYC take-on procedures and identify any issues in the process and assist in improving process.

People

  • Organising department meetings (providing a structure to these, arranging who is speaking and what topics covered, circulating action points)
  • Oversee the appraisal process
  • Agree with the Partners/Existing Performance Manager who are the appraisal managers for who
  • When appraisals are carried out and in what format
  • Re feedback and suggestions for improvement
  • Ensure a balanced scorecard system is place for uniformity of attributes/behaviours/responsibilities for each grade to
  • Ensuring useful and timely information is communicated to the team on salary reviews/bonuses etc. Assist Partners/Performance Manager in completion of salary review/bonus spreadsheets including liasing with HR and other departments as necessary

 Recruitment

  • Develop with Partners a People Strategy
  • Liaising with partners on current recruitment needs
  • Liaising with recruitment department and Early Year Careers (for graduate)
  • Assist in organising interviews, collating feedback and
  • Feed in as required to National Tax talent plan
  • Onboarding New staff
  • Ensure Department Induction undertaken
  • Develop New joiner Department information including team structure and profiles
  • Ensure Performance Manager and Buddy
  • Assist in Trainee Rotations between departments so all departments and staff aware of start/end dates
  • Oversee Department calendar to ensure sufficient cover during holidays and exam times.

Risk

  • Review Risk reviews and identify and implement any areas of improvement in Department processes.

Client/Markets

  • Manage the Corporate Tax Compliance Portfolio allocation (in discussion with Partner and client teams involved) to ensure that each portfolio:
  • Sufficient and appropriate resource based on risk grading
  • Allocate Manager/AM and junior trainee to each client – Ensure appropriate for grade, objectives set and availability
  • Update for joiners/leavers and promotions as well as maternity/ long term sick cover
  • Has a clear Manager role who is responsible for day to day contact with client
  • Agreed timeline
  • Expected billings and WIP recovery
  • Audit manager (if appropriate)
