Accounting Assistant

This position will be based in Moreno Valley, CA. Full-time(Non-Exempt).

Key Responsibilities of Position

  • Handling Financial statements and reconciling bank statements.
  • Check figures, posting, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.
  • Prepare & record all of the organization's departmental codes and outgoing and incoming financials. This will include debit, credit, and total accounts on computer spreadsheets and databases, using excel and/or specialized accounting software.
  • Assist accounts payable with preparing, processing, and maintaining all accounts payable for the organization.
  • Prepare bank deposits by compiling data from cashiers, verifying, and balancing receipts, and sending cash, checks, or other forms of payment to banks.
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Operate 10-key calculators, typewriters, and copy machines to perform calculations and produce documents.
  • Receive, record, and bank cash, checks, and vouchers.
  • Monitor the status of loans and accounts to ensure that payments are up to date.
  • Perform financial calculations, such as amounts due, interest charges, balances, discounts, equity, and principal.
  • Compile budget data and documents, based on estimated revenues and expenses and precious budgets
  • Complete and submit tax forms and returns, worker's compensation forms, 403b contribution forms, and other government documents.
  • Classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals and ledgers or computers.
  • Debit, credit, and total accounts on computer spreadsheets and databases, using specialized accounting software.
  • Regular, punctual attendance and appropriate professional attire, standards of conduct, and the ability to work overtime, as needed.
  • Maintain high levels of confidentiality related to all accounting activities and information.
  • Answer all incoming calls and screen calls before passing them to others on the team and perform general office duties.
  • Date/time stamp each and everyday correspondence coming into the Accounting Department and ensure timely management of such correspondence.
  • Provide appropriate support to the accounting and other Departmental staff, as needed.
  • Track and follow up with any policies and procedures related to accounting or other training assignments to ensure compliance.


Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • At least two years of accounting experience
  • Knowledge of appropriate filing and clerical systems and processes
  • Knowledge of data entry and knowledge of statistical/data reports
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, database management, Outlook (or similar), and others.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills


Preferred:
  • AA degree or some college - administrative classes, or similar.
  • At least 2 years of accounting-related experience
  • Bilingual Spanish/English
  • Non-Profit experience
