Reporting to the Manager of Regulatory Reporting, the Regulatory Financial Analyst will provide financial analytical support to the Regulatory business units of ENMAX Power. The position will be responsible for all financial compliance reporting to the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) and interveners and provide planned and ad-hoc analysis for all areas of ENMAX Power, including Business Operations and Regulatory Affairs.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Perform financial/scenario analysis, variance analysis, and reporting, using the unique terminology, theory, and practice of a regulated utility relating to revenue requirements, cost of service, performance based regulation (PBR), cost of debt, return on equity, etc.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and analysis for management, identifying and evaluating potential risks and opportunities.
  • Assist with regulatory applications such as PBR, Rule 005 and cost of service applications.
  • Provide financial advice and consulting to internal clients regarding budgeting and forecasting.
  • Collect and analyze data from various sources, including internal and external databases, to support the development of regulatory models and metrics.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and other documentation to support the communication of regulatory concepts and progress to internal stakeholders.
  • Review and analyze AUC decisions to determine their impact on EPC and implement necessary changes.
  • Develop system processes to update regulatory and financial ledgers for Distribution and Transmission in the Uniform System of Accounts (USA) and Minimum Filing Requirements (MFR) realm to ensure accurate and up-to-date reporting.
  • Calculate and analyze full-time equivalents (FTEs) for reporting and planning purposes.
  • Support regulatory financial systems including maintenance of regulatory schedules and mapping of regulatory finance accounts in Adaptive Insights and Office Connect.
  • Participate in other assigned projects.
Education Required:
  • The successful candidate must possess a University degree and/or a CPA designation.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Requires 6 plus years of progressive experience in a financial and analytical role within a large organization.
  • Experience within in the energy industry with a focus on regulatory accounting, regulatory filings, and responding to Information Requests, as well as strong PBR knowledge and experience is required.
  • Excellent analytical and presentation skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets, identify patterns and trends, and provide insightful recommendations and solutions.
  • Must be willing to work within tight timelines and demonstrate an ability to work with occasional high volumes of work, including overtime, evenings, and weekends when necessary, all while maintaining a high level of commitment to quality.
  • Exceptional computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, Word, Power Point) is required.
  • Experience with the Workday Financials, PowerPlan Asset Management System, Adaptive Insights and Office Connect would be considered a strong asset

Salary: Analyst, Level C (Current CUPE 2023 rates)

$94,607.42 - $100,519.15 - $106,430.87 - $112,342.59 - $118,254.32

Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) work force with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
