Financial Controller Statistical Reporting Team – AVP

The specific role is within the Statistical Reporting team of the Legal Entity Controllers (LEC) function based in Frankfurt. The Frankfurt LEC team forms part of the Finance division at Morgan Stanley. The Frankfurt LEC team consists of 16 people, working on a range of projects, regulatory and statutory reporting and control functions.

The Finance division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm’s books and records and by contributing to Firm wide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley’s various industry and government regulators and also serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley’s various businesses and its senior management team.

What will you be doing?

  • Support the Statistical Reporting team in all aspects of the preparation of monthly/quarterly reporting to the regulators.
  • Interact and coordinate with multiple stakeholders across different departments (e.g. Technology, Finance, Operations).
  • Coordinate, prepare and analyse Analytical Credit Datasets (AnaCredit), Balance Sheet Statistics (BISTA), External Positions of Banks (AUSTA), Borrower Statistics (Kreditnehmerstatistik) and Foreign Trades and Payments Statistics (AWV) reporting.
  • Respond to ad-hoc queries from the regulators (Deutsche Bundesbank, BaFin).
  • Be a contact for statistical reporting related questions for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the team on the monitoring of the outsourcing activities.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience preferably within the financial services industry, Deutsche Bundesbank or BaFin in Germany.
  • Business fluency in German and English.
  • Working knowledge of AnaCredit, BISTA, AUSTA or AWV.
  • Attention to detail, time management and flexibility to work in a dynamic environment under tight deadlines.

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Strong computing skills, especially Microsoft Office.
  • Qualified Accountant (i.e. Bilanzbuchhalter) or academic degree in business administration or finance preferable
