The opportunity

As a Senior at Azets, you will have the ability and motivation needed to:

  • Work hand in hand with the Managers, Directors and Partners to shape, lead and manage the Public Sector Audit Team in England, alongside our extensive sector expertise within Azets in Scotland
  • Take ownership of your own portfolio with support from your manager
  • Support in delivering revenue and profitability targets
  • Develop enduring client relationships

You will be an advocate for always enhancing audit quality, whilst simultaneously taking an active lead role in sector development.

In addition, the right candidate will have the opportunity to shape the infrastructure required nationally to deliver our fast growing public sector audit business across the UK. This will include opportunities to support on all aspects of our audit business, from people leadership, quality assurance, value for money, sector-specific training, technical specialisms and more, working across local government, central government and the NHS.

Day to day duties

  • Heavily involved in the completion of audit fieldwork/planned substantive and analytical audit procedures, normally on site at client premises
  • Responsibility for the planning and completion of audit assignments, whilst ensuring audit files have appropriate and sufficient documentation
  • Highlight high level risk areas or matters of concern to the Partner/Manager whilst using a significant degree of your own judgement
  • Planning the execution and finalisation of the audit assignments for Partner/Manager review

What are we looking for?

  • Working knowledge of IFRS, International Auditing Standards and Value for Money
  • ACA/ACCA/CA/CIPFA or equivalent qualified
  • Experience of auditing clients within the public sector and the ability to manage a portfolio of clients whilst also ensuring successful contract management.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring junior members
