Overall job purpose

Reporting directly to the Authorised Individual (‘AI’), you will be responsible for managing and profitably delivering work across a portfolio of corporate clients. The client portfolio will generally be focussed on the more complex financial reporting and consolidations work which falls into our Accounting and Financial Reporting team (AFR). Your manager responsibilities will include the training and development of staff and to ensure the highest possible standards of client service at all times.

Responsibilities

  • To act as the day-to-day manager point of contact for your portfolio of clients, and to practice the principles of excellent client service at all times.
  • You will be responsible for a varied client portfolio and will ensure that all jobs are effectively managed from start to finish, including planning, WIP management and billing. It will be expected that work will be completed and reviewed to a high standard with all general queries cleared before passing for AI review.
  • To plan assignments in accordance with the firm’s standard procedures and confirm arrangements with the client, including likely costs and billing arrangements.
  • To provide adequate briefing and supervision for staff involved throughout their work on your client portfolio, to include additional support for fellow managers as required from time to time. You will also have line manager responsibilities.
  • To ensure prompt feedback is provided to the team at supervisor and assistant grade, including responsibility for actively training and upskilling the team.
  • To develop and maintain an advanced level of technical knowledge through appropriate reading and courses, and to fulfil the professional bodies’ CPD requirements including maintaining an awareness of the firm’s specialist services and publications.
  • To ensure that assignments are undertaken in accordance with instructions, and to carry out complex aspects of the assignment efficiently, thoroughly and in accordance with the firm’s procedures.
  • Carry out any other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, the title of the role and its grading.

Personal and professional qualities

Essential qualities:

  • ACA / ACCA fully qualified
  • At least two years of experience as a manager
  • A strong understanding of UK financial reporting requirements
  • Working experience of complex consolidations
  • Ability to demonstrate commercial awareness and to add value
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Well-developed people management skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, including WIP management
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Word & Excel

Desirable qualities:

  • Good understanding of CCH AP
  • Good understanding of IFRS requirements
  • Working knowledge of Corporate Taxation
