We are recruiting for an Actuarial Manager in our With-Profits Management team - a role that combines people management and technical actuarial work.

Job Type: Permanent


Location and flexible working: Hybrid. This role could be based in any of our Wythall, Edinburgh, Telford or Hitchin offices, and could support working a number of days per week at home. The role


We are recruiting for an Actuarial Manager in our With-Profits Management team - a role that combines people management and technical actuarial work.


Reporting to the Head of With-Profits Production, you will line-manage 6-8 direct reports; contributing to the operation of the With-Profits Production team. You will have the opportunity to lead business-as-usual workstreams such as bonus reviews that are vital for safely managing our with-profits funds and ensuring our customers receive fair outcomes.


Alongside the managerial side of your role you will also have the opportunity to work alongside our With-Profits Technical Actuaries on a number of our with-profits funds. You will contribute to their effective management by leading or supporting investigations, projects and developments; proposing improvements to processes, controls and methodologies; and reviewing the outcomes of business-as-usual work such as bonus reviews. Senior stakeholders will include With-Profit actuaries and the With-Profit Committee.


The team is at a pivotal stage bringing together the management of different With-Profit funds with the possibility of finding opportunities to improve current methods and processes.
If you are interested in applying your managerial and actuarial expertise to help ensure the fair treatment of customers across our 22 with-profits funds, and have excellent organisation, communication and analytical skills, this may be the role for you.

What are we looking for?


You will be able to combine management and leadership skills with technical actuarial work.
You are likely to be a qualified actuary, or have experience working in actuarial teams. Experience of with-profits funds is not strictly necessary, your ability to work in a technical actuarial area will be more valued.
You may already have experience managing or leading teams though technical actuarial business-as-usual work, or be looking for your first managerial role.
You should be able to demonstrate leadership, planning and stakeholder management skills. Excellent communication skills mean you can communicate complex ideas with both senior leadership and more junior colleagues.
