Your role
Are you ready to work in the second line of defense? Can you build relationships and influence outcomes, as well as develop and implement innovative solutions?
We're looking for someone like this to:
• support the Senior Operational Risk Officer overseeing the operational risk taking activities of the product and trading areas of the GWM Americas business in the US. This includes trading activities on listed securities (e.g., equities, derivatives, fixed income, etc.) and products and programs (e.g., managed accounts, alternative strategies, etc.) developed to support Financial Advisors in serving Wealth Management client needs
• evaluate the operational risk profile and risk analysis for business areas and provide an independent view including front-to-back processes, events, controls and issues
• collaborate with other support functions to provide challenge to the First Line of Defense's risk-taking, mitigating, and remediation efforts (risk and control assessments, operational risk issues and events)
• evaluate the control framework for new and changing business initiatives and providing consultation and/or challenge as necessary
• work across the multiple dimensions of the Operational Risk Framework and understanding how it impacts the respective business areas
• influence First Line of Defense on identification, management and mitigation of operational risks
• conduct ad-hoc analysis, thematic reviews, deep dive investigations, and driving specific risk initiatives
Your team
You'll work in the GWM (Global Wealth Management) Americas Operational Risk Control team in Weehawken, NJ.
Operational Risk Officers are the liaisons between Operational Risk Management (ORM) and the entire enterprise. Serving as both an effective challenger and a trusted advisor, Operational Risk Officers are integrated into multiple dimensions of first line risk-taking activities

Your expertise
• bachelor's degree in a relevant area of study required
• ideally 5+ years of prior operational risk experience with a financial institution - particularly wealth management - or at a regulatory agency or major consulting firm
• successful experience of leadership, both in terms of people as well as projects and initiatives
• strong risk management and risk assessment knowledge
• experience with US regulations (e.g., FINRA, SEC) and an understanding of the legal and regulatory expectations / requirements related to financial services operational risk management
• broad understanding of financial products offered to institutional clients (with focus on stock option plan administration, financial advisory and managed programs, retirement services, etc.)
• able to articulate views, assessments and approaches both verbally and in writing precisely, concisely, logically and accurately including with visuals where required.
• able to present to and respond effectively to internal and external stakeholders
• able to be accommodating and capable of prioritizing based on changing internal or external demands
• experienced in handling sensitive information with a high degree of discretion
