Where do you fit in?

Finance Operations Travel & Expense (T&E) Team under Finance Expenditure Process is a Global Finance Process consisting of 62 finance professionals providing employee expense process support to over 90,000 Shell Employees across 51 countries including around 56,000 corporate cardholders. The team is currently using industry-leading digital tools such as Concur Expense Management, Salesforce, and Yammer in supporting Shell employees. We are in the process of expanding our digital toolkits to progress further our process excellence targets and the most prominent of these expansion activities is our goal to re-imagine the expense assurance management space.

What is the role?

As the T&E Finance Analyst, you will be a member of the T&E Finance team. You will be overseeing and operating a Global Travel and Expense process via the Finance ERPs, Employee Expense Management System (Concur) and global card process. You will manage the end to end finance activities, responsible for coordinating and executing all financial aspects of employee expenditure, ensuring TE related GL accounts are current and deep dive finance issues for timely resolution.

This role will work closely with the TE Operations, Shell employees, HR, Controllers Team, Finance in the Business, TEPA process excellence team, other FO processes and the Partner Bank to deliver the team’s priorities in alignment with the organization’s business goals.

More specifically, your role will include:

  • Performs the end to end finance activities and provides support to the Finance Team Manager and the wider Finance Team as a whole.
  • Performs risk assessments, determine level of risks and work on the mitigating action
  • Performs monthly completion of General Ledger reconciliations
  • Performs root cause analysis of aged items and ensures timely resolution and properly escalates, as required.
  • Keep current T&E related general ledger accounts
  • Completes and analyses of monthly Blackline stats, reports result timely to the T&E Finance Team Manager.
  • Ensure KPIs are monitored and work with the team the identification of root causes and sustainable get to green actions
  • Works closely with various contacts within the business and partner bank for prompt issue resolution and to ensure that the necessary focal points are aware of any issues.
  • Liaises with various system support teams.
  • Provide annual financial assurances where required for the area of operation.
  • Leads and supports process improvements and ensures timely delivery of key initiatives, projects, migration or implementation.
  • Works with the subject matter expert for complex process issues

Your ability to exhibit strong finance skills as well as demonstrating strong stakeholder management skills will inspire your community to collaborate and make an impact that matters. Furthermore, you will have:

  • Educated to degree standard, with relevant professional experience in Finance Analysis, Risk and Controls
  • Strong risk management skills including financial risks and control methodology
  • Knowledge of Expense Management process and understanding of Finance business fundamentals is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and collaborative partnership across all levels of the organization – ability to influence and contribute across multiple stakeholders, internally and externally
  • Analytical thinker and strong problem-solving skills
  • Resilient personality with focus and determination.
  • Ability to work in a fast changing, diverse and multi-culturally challenging organisation
  • Knowledge of Concur and finance ERP systems preferable although in depth training will be provided
  • Knowledge of Direct and Indirect process tax preferable
