As we continue to build our central finance team, we are looking to hire a Financial Senior Accountant to oversee and run the accounting and reporting for our head office companies.

The Role

You will take on the full ownership of the finances for three Luxembourg companies that hold the Group’s external debt of &>€500m and are responsible for well over €50m in annual spend on corporate functions. With some of the group’s most substantial and sophisticated accounting activity (including M&A transactions, share schemes and interest hedges), you will be tackling the most complex and high-profile work and the largest balance sheets of any region.

Your role will encompass:

  • Management of the monthly accounting, bookkeeping and balance sheet controls for the head office companies
  • Preparation/review of the annual financial statements and liaison with auditors
  • Development of strong financial control disciplines
  • Management of a junior accountant and their development as a potential future controller
  • Liaison with tax function on VAT and corporation tax matters
  • Company administration, such as payment approval, return filings etc.
  • Collaboration with the wider central team on financial reporting, FP&A and other analysis

The Person

The candidate for this role is likely to demonstrate:

  • Accountancy skills with an understanding of entity-level accounting and appropriate qualification
  • Familiarity with ERP tools and the underlying notions of ledgers, TBs, subledgers and suspense accounts etc. Understands the big picture of a company, link between activity and the financial statements
  • An understanding of accounting quality/risk issues and of audits
  • An understanding of IFRS (Luxembourg GAAP would be helpful, also, but not expected)
  • An ability to collaborate with colleagues globally across cultures and timezones
  • Experience with SAP S/4Hana would be an advantage, any other ERP system is a plus
  • Fluency in English

Reporting line

The role reports into the Head of Group Reporting in Luxembourg.

The role will be based in Malta, with peers and stakeholders across the world.
