Finance Manager - Internal Reporting

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our Greene King Corporate Finance Department as an Finance Manager (Internal Reporting) based in Bury St Edmunds. You will be working closely, providing ad hoc financial support to the CEO, CFO and Executive board, understanding and providing analysis and insights of the latest trading across our group as well as reporting on commercial performance challenges.

Our working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.15pm and your position will be under our agile working policy which means 50% of your time will be spent working in the office from Bury St Edmunds and the remaining 50% of your time you can choose to work flexibly from home or if you prefer, another one of our offices or pubs or of course you are more than welcome to spend your time back in the office.

Key responsibilities for our Finance Manager

Understanding the trading performance of thebusiness
  • Review, understand and challenge weekly trading & financial updates from across the group
  • Provide forward looking robust guidance on likely performance across key P&L lines to enable an equally robust rolling P&L forecast to be maintained.
  • Liaise with the property finance function to maintain visibility and profit impact of estate plans.
  • Provide regular insight of competitor information
Runthe forecasting calendar and process
  • Review and ensure FP&A timetable is issued timely as well as budget and forecast guidance
  • Manage and complete submission of Budget and re-forecast in the consolidation system alongside with managing expectations and queries from stakeholders
  • Liaise across and effectively engage with, the various finance teams of the GK group to ensure successful consolidation of 5-year business plans, budgets and major forecasts.
  • Support the Senior Finance Manager to review and analyse the business plans, annual budget and major forecasts and then effectively communicate to the CFO and various boards the challenges, risks and opportunities of the submitted plans.
  • Carry out loading of budget and re-forecast into Business Intelligence software
  • Be responsible for the updating and upkeep of 5YP consolidation model
Understand the Group cashflow position
  • Be responsible for periodic Group cashflow, including looking into variances, ensuring correct reporting of FCF and submission of FCF into the Group Dartboard
  • Be responsible for writing cashflow commentary on CFO report
  • Understand and keep up to date on working capital variance and review working capital budget and forecast submissions
Other

Ad-hoc projects, analysis and insight as required.
  • Provide cover for the FP&A analyst when required with the various periodic work streams such as the weekly trading note, the CFO periodic report, the In Period Forecast ("IPF") and competitor analysis
  • Assist Senior Finance Manager - Internal reporting with reviews of output from Group FP&A analyst and Finance Business Partner
  • Carry out ad-hoc modelling required by CFO and Group Finance Controller
  • Identify and implementprocess improvement where relevant
As Finance Manager you will be:
  • A Qualified Accountant - (CIMA, ACA, ACCA)
  • Commercially astute with a background in ideally the retail or manufacturing sector (desirable)
  • Able to assimilate, understand and provide insight on key financial information.
  • Create and understand advanced excel spreadsheets, most especially for modelling.
  • A clear communicator, both written and in person with the ability to deliver key financial and commercial messages successfully
  • Accurate, with excellent attention to detail, ensuring that outputs are of high quality
  • Able to communicate well and have strong people & team communication skills
  • Driven with a desire to learn, improve and grow
  • Enquiring, with a proactive approach to identifying solutions to problems
  • Able to consistently deliver on commitments, despite challenging timescales and competing priorities
  • Flexible in respect of your approach to workload, able to adjust easily to changing priorities
  • Proactive in seeking to understand the task at hand
  • A self-starter
  • Confident in liaising with senior stakeholders across the business
