Founded in 1882, the client is a private members club that operate in the hospitality and catering sector. At the time of construction, was London's largest purpose-built clubhouse. It has been a bastion for political values ever since, with an ethnically and socially diverse membership since its launch in the 1880s, and being the first of London's major 'gentlemen's clubs' to admit women.

Description

Finance Manager - Private Members Club duties:

  • Maintain the books of the Club and its trading company using the accounting software provided to perform all necessary ancillary functions e.g. bank reconciliations
  • Monthly journals (prepayment, accruals, provisions, stock, etc.)
  • Investment portfolio reconciliation
  • Prepare monthly management accounts
  • Prepare weekly F&B flash reports
  • Prepare annual budgets for review by Finance Group and the Board of Directors
  • Prepare and review financial records for the annual audit. Liaise as necessary to assist with the audit, answering and resolving any queries that may arise in preparation of the statutory accounts
  • Review documents produced by auditors on behalf of the Company for signature by the Company Chair
  • Assist the external accountants as necessary with the preparation of corporation tax computations
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and appropriate depreciation calculations
  • Prepare and submit the quarterly VAT returns
  • Prepare and process monthly supplier pay run
  • Prepare and process salaries & pensions according to policies and procedures (including P11D, PSA1)
  • Prepare and process Direct Debit collections for subscriptions.
  • Issue invoices to customers, tenants for rents and as necessary and maintain a credit control system.
  • Paying cash and cheques (from the bar/dining room and function clients) into the bank
  • Reconcile cash receipts with bar and dining room till receipts.
  • Prepare regular cash flow forecasts as required
  • Assist with other administrative office functions as required
  • Contribute fully to the work of the SMT and take the lead on key initiatives as required

Profile

Finance Manager - Private Members Club criteria:

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge
  • Experience of running annual audits
  • Good analytical skills
  • Good communication skills, maintaining confidentiality where required
  • Well organised with effective multi-tasking and time management skills and good attention to detail
  • Works collaboratively with senior colleagues to achieve the best outcome for the Company
  • Develops and sustains good working relationships with all colleagues
  • Provides a high-quality service to internal and external colleagues and takes a flexible, creative and diplomatic approach to meets their needs
  • This is an office based role with the flexibility to work from home on a case by case basis

Job Offer

  • Base salary up to £60,000 per annum
