We’re BDO. An accountancy and business advisory firm, providing the advice and solutions businesses need to navigate today’s changing world.

Our clients are Britain’s economic engine – ambitious, entrepreneurially-spirited and high‑growth businesses that fuel the economy - and the owners and management teams that lead them.

We’ll broaden your horizons

Our Shared Service Centre team (SSC) provides essential support to a number of teams across our firm. As well as assisting on large-scale operations, beyond the capacity of a core specialist team, they provide the unparalleled expertise we need to keep moving forward. As part of this friendly department, you’ll have the chance to work on exciting projects and develop your skillset. There’s real opportunity, making it a great chance to use industry knowledge and experience to solve problems in your next career step, or it can be a place to learn if you’re just starting out. If you want to work on important projects and explore your potential, we’ll give you the friendly, supportive working environment to go far.

We’ll help you succeed

Leading organisations trust us because of the quality of our advice. That quality grows from a thorough understanding of their business, and that understanding comes from working closely with them and building long-lasting relationships.

You’ll be someone who is both comfortable working proactively and managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with senior managers, directors, and BDO’s partners to help businesses effectively. You’ll be encouraged to identify and draw attention to opportunities for enhancing our delivery and providing additional services to organisations we work with.

Our SSC is looking to recruit a qualified (ACA / ACCA) accountant with experience in audit delivery, training and quality frameworks. Specifically, you will oversee and implement the SSC’s Audit Support Hubs internal quality assurance frameworks for existing and new service lines, as it seeks to provide further support to the wider Audit Stream.

The Audit Support Hub based across sites in Liverpool and Glasgow, providing a portfolio of audit support processes and services to Audit stream colleagues across the UK, such as Casting & Consistency, Hedgebook Valuation, and File Reviews. As the Hub continues to evolve its support to the Audit Stream, the existing portfolio of service lines will expand to include IdeaGen Disclosure Checklist checking and TB Mapping.

The role is an excellent opportunity for you to utilise your existing knowledge and experience to support the growth of the SSC, as well as develop further skills in developing and implementation plans and processes connected to technical training and quality assurance, as well as coaching/mentoring skills.

This will be a crucial role to help support the growth and evolution of the Audit Support Hub to provide more support to the Audit Stream, and will specifically entail leading on the development, implementation, and monitoring of the hub’s internal quality assurance processes, particularly for new service lines.

This will be a challenging and rewarding role where you will:

  • Be a technical expert and advisor to the operational management and sub-teams of the Audit Support Hubs (c160FTE)
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of the hub’s internal quality assurance processes, particularly for new service lines
  • Ensure that the firms’ quality control procedures are adhered to as required
  • Assist with update, delivery, management, and post-course review for all Audit Support Hub training
  • Be the key technical contact for key Audit Stream and TSG stakeholders, particularly around the development and approval of internal quality assurance framework and associated training processes
  • Report monthly to stakeholders across the business on the Audit Support Hub’s Quality based Key Performance Indicators
  • Build strong relationships across the Audit Support Hub, being the arbiter of quality and technical queries
  • Support on-boarding of new service lines and other projects
  • Work extensively with BDO’s proprietary audit support systems and processes – including support to process improvement and change management
  • Use existing network to engage with BDO’s senior audit stakeholders in promoting and driving further adoption of service take-up

You’ll be someone with:

  • Qualified Auditor (ACA/ACCA) with at least 1-2 PQE
  • Strong UK GAAP / IFRS knowledge
  • Prior experience of training delivery
  • Strong interest in people development and learning
  • Strong interest in improving audit quality at the firm
  • Comfortable working independently or collaboratively and able to use own initiative with a particular focus on problem solving skills

You’ll be able to be yourself; we’ll recognise and value you for who you are and celebrate and reward your contributions to the business. We’re committed to agile working, and we offer everyone the opportunity to work in ways that suit them, their teams, and the task in hand.
