About the Team

Although part of the Technology Commercial Finance team, this role uniquely provides business partnering support across all of TalkTalk's business units: Corporate, Direct, Consumer Wholesale Services, Business Wholesale Services and Technology.

You will be part of a very supportive team of like-minded Finance Business Partners, with whom you will work closely and share a passion for growing and optimising financial outcomes.

You will also be a valued member of the Group Transformation team, supporting the Group Change function in delivering strategic priorities in line with the Group's financial plan, from a demand and supply perspective.

About the Role

Reporting into the Finance Director for Tech & Security, the Senior Finance Manager for Group Transformation and Capex will be a valued and trusted advisor to the Group Transformation Director and play a key role in forecasting, reporting, and influencing better financial outcomes in relation to TalkTalk's six strategic priorities.

You will be focused on the Group's Capital Expenditure, as well all current and future standalone investment projects.

Through your ability to articulate financial results clearly and concisely, your role will provide insight into TalkTalk's financial performance in respect to Capex and Cashflow. You will make recommendations, balancing support, and constructive challenge to business partner members of the Exco and Senior Leadership Team. Your exceptional technical knowledge of capex accounting, and through owning the capex committee governance process, you will ensure TalkTalk remain financially compliant through audit scrutiny.

Key responsibilities in the role include:
  • Importantly, this role is largely autonomous and self-directed. You will have support from the Finance Director but due to the unique nature of this role (operating across multiple business units), you must be a self-starter, with an excellent commercial understanding and the ability to build trusted business partnering relationships, to succeed.
  • This role plays a crucial role in coordinating the group's investment activity across all business growth initiatives and ensuring that the TalkTalk's investment activity is fully aligned to TalkTalk's strategic and operational plans.
  • The role includes reporting actuals and forecasts of Capex and Cash Capex with feedback into Exco, input into Financial Planning and Analysis teams, as well as the Senior Leadership Team across all four Business Units.
  • You will be the lead finance support through the business planning process, and in the submission of rolling reforecasts for Capex and Cash Capex, across the entire group. Including review and challenge with Exco.
  • You will contribute to and run the Capex Risk & Opportunities, including challenge to initiatives and assumptions
  • A key responsibility of the Senior Finance Business Partner for Group Transformation and Capex is owning the Capex Committee governance process, ensuring TalkTalk remain financially compliant through external audit scrutiny.
  • Your exceptional knowledge of capex accounting will be required to scrutinise accounting treatment and ensure accuracy of Group Capex reporting. This should extend to new and emerging technologies in the cloud.
  • You will play a key role in the annual business planning process, supporting prioritisation and demand activity
  • The role is Business Partner to Exco members (Group Transformation Director and CTO), as well as SLT.
About You
  • You will be a qualified senior finance manager with excellent commercial understanding and the ability to build trusted business partnering relationships and ability to influence and manage relationships including Exco level.
  • Exceptional technical knowledge of capex accounting, and through owning the capex committee governance process, you will ensure TalkTalk remain financially compliant through audit scrutiny.
  • Experience working within a large corporate business, understanding the specifics role of individual Business units and their alignments and interdependencies within a group function.
  • Proven ability to work proactively and autonomously.
  • Experience in forecasting, reporting, and influencing better financial outcomes.
  • Ability to articulate financial results clearly and concisely.
