We have an excellent opportunity for an ambitious aspiring Accountant to join our busy team based in Paisley. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an expanding European finance team in an organisation considered a global leader in its field which offers great career support, development and opportunities.
The centre provides financial controllership in the region across various Thermo Fisher Scientific groups, including Life Sciences Solutions, Special Diagnostics and Laboratory Products. Currently we are responsible a large number of entities reporting a total of $2 Billion of revenue per year.
This opportunity could suit a recent graduate or someone looking to further, expand or embark on their career within accounting. Some work experience in a busy office environment is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:
- Ensure the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of monthly close activities for assigned country entities
- Prepare accounting entries and evaluate entries for completeness and accuracy
- Review general ledger activity, researching and correcting account discrepancies
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations, including general ledger accounts and sub-ledger accounts
- Management reporting to corporate accounting teams through Hyperion
- Preparation and submission of government and other agency returns, including but not limited to, tax returns and government statistics returns
- Supporting external and internal audits as well as various teams and projects companywide
- Assisting in management of bank account, cash & bank, payments and also payroll journals
- Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls (Sarbanes-Oxley Act).
- Participation in ad-hoc projects and new initiatives
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Accounting, Business or Finance
- Ability to uphold accuracy in a fast-paced working day
- Proactivity to drive continuous improvement and continue to learn
- Excellent communication skills to interact at various levels inside and outside the organisation
- Proficient in MS Excel
