We have an incredible opportunity to join us here at Phoenix Group as an Accountant to join our Reconciliations Team within Phoenix Fund Accounting team.
The Fund Accounting Reconciliations team is responsible for managing and controlling a full range of finance transactions and processes that result in complete and accurate accounting records in the Oracle ledger, controlled balance sheets and well managed & controlled period end close activities. This role will provide and oversight support for the month end activities and production of team's outputs.
In addition to delivering core month end outputs to a high standard, you will also play a key role in the continued development of the team, support planning and co-ordination activities, work side by side with the wider Finance Department, and engage with key stakeholders at all levels in the business.
You will strive to maximize reliability and efficiency at all times through the continuous development and improvement of the accounting and reporting processes, while demonstrating role-model behaviours and setting the benchmark for financial controls excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
Ensure the accurate closure of the IFRS Oracle ledger each month end by the completion of key controls and MI related tasks.
Support analysts with a day-to-day activities and oversight of the reconciliations.
Carry out analytical reviews/verification checks to ensure ledger accuracy at month end.
Use initiative to suggest, and take the lead on, the development of operational controls to maximize reliability and efficiency
Point of contact for internal and external audit in respect of processes/responsibilities aligned.
Support the team in analysing the impact of complex business-driven projects on critical accounting processes


What We're Looking For:
Essential
Qualified accountant (Qualified by experience will also be considered)
Demonstrates a good level of understanding of key finance reporting processes, finance systems, data, risks and controls within a Financial Services organisation or equivalent.
Ability to analyse and interpret data for communication with stakeholders.
Enjoys building networks across accounting and the wider business.
Displays accountability of tasks and deliverables.

Desirable
Experience of finance operational change ideally within a life insurer or equivalent.
