Duties will include:

  • Accounting for Property costs across various EU entities – preparation of accruals, prepayments and other journals.
  • The production and management of accounts work within the Financial Accounts department, including accounts preparation for a number of subsidiaries.
  • Contributing to the effectiveness of the financial accounting team through identification of areas for continuous improvement, providing input and information to achieve problem resolution.
  • Accounting for Property costs across various EU entities – preparation of accruals, prepayments and other journals.
  • The production of monthly accounts for various Companies within the business - US GAAP reporting.
  • Preparation and reporting of turnover certificates to landlords monthly / yearly.
  • Analysis of Property Costs and variances to Budget.
  • The review of balance sheet account analyses on a monthly basis.
  • Assist in the production of quarterly and year end accounts, liaison with auditors thereon.
  • Ensuring US reporting requirements met. Aid where necessary in statutory accounts production.
  • Completion of certain taxation matters, corporate and VAT (including intrastat).
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly reforecasts, to provide up to date information to the Board and senior management for strategic planning.
  • Production of monthly management information to aid management review and planning.
  • Responsibility for Fixed Assets for relevant Claires entities.
  • Ensure all SOX requirements through the business are complied with Involvement in developing and enhancing business control systems.
  • Liaise with US Group company.
  • Provide assistance to European Financial Accounting Manager and the Finance Team as required.
  • Assist in specific Project work.
  • Production of ad hoc information and analysis when required.

Qualifications required:

  • Qualified by experience.

OR

  • Part-qualified studying either AAT, CIMA or ACCA.

Skills required:

  • Some experience in preparation of month end accounts, preferably for a multi-sited / departmental organisation.
  • Experience of a retail environment (preferable).

Personal qualities required:

  • Attention to detail.
  • Problem solving and lateral thinking.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Able to work and deliver results under pressure.

Other information:

The working hours are flexible, either 8am - 4.30pm, or 9am - 5.30pm. This is a hybrid role, working 2/3 days in the office and the rest homebased. There is free on-site parking available. Please note the salary is completive and will be discussed at interview.
