Manager, Accounts Payable

The Accounts Payable Manager will ensure that all aspects of DLL’s accounts payable and vendor funding are in accordance with applicable accounting standards, company policies, as well as applicable federal, state and local reporting requirements. The candidate will collaborate with colleagues in Finance and other business leaders across the organization and therefore requires exceptional communication skills to effectively convey accounts payable and vendor funding matters. The Accounts Payable Manager will lead a team and work with a broader team within the organization and manage Accounts Payable system conversion including the coordination with connecting systems, general ledger and procurement.

Day to Day

  • Provide leadership, as needed, for employee, system, process, or policy issues including performance reviews.
  • Evaluate and manage the fast-paced, high-volume vendor funding in support of business segments, providing strategic and tactical management of Accounts Payable through efficient processes and workflow assignments.
  • Develop, implement and document accounts payable policies and procedures, providing training and support to internal resources.
  • Manage the research and resolution of invoice/payment discrepancies; recommend and champion process changes to avoid on-going issues.
  • Comply with internal control procedures.
  • Ensure all financial deadlines regarding accounts payable are met for month-end and year-end financial closings, including supporting requests from internal and external audit functions.
  • Delegate tasks across the entire Accounts Payable team and ensures clearly communicated expectations so that the team achieves a quality outcome, including determining deadlines and recognizing and adjusting based on over or under-achievement.
  • Review accounting and compliance tasks with a continuous focus on improving processes and enhancing financial controls.
  • Manage Unclaimed Property reporting and annual 1099 preparation for IRS reporting.
  • Handle special projects, including system upgrades, as needed.

  • Benchmark and assess the efficiency and effectiveness of the current process to streamline workflow while also performing re-design and flow-charting; develop, implement, and communicate process improvements and enhancements to internal controls.
  • Evaluate departmental KPI’s and provide management reporting of accounts payable information and activity.

Essentials

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Finance or Accounting preferred.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Seven (7) years of Accounts Payable experience in an automated financial environment and six (6) years of experience managing a team in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Proficient with accounts payable systems, banking institution requirements, federal and state government agency reporting requirements, and familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Self-starter with the ability to motivate team members and provide direction. Capable of managing multiple deliverables within agreed timeframes.
  • Challenges current processes and recommends process improvements.
  • Strong analytical and excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communication with team, among peers and business as well as upper management.

  • Accounts Payable and general ledger system conversion experience.
    Leasing experience.
    Experience with Six Sigma or similar process improvement methodologies.

    Oracle Financial Software, Microsoft Dynamics GP experience.
