Our partner is supporting the growth and development of local enterprises in East Africa; they do this through the provision of business support as well as investment. They are seeking a hands-on senior finance professional to offer maternity cover. You will be joining the organisation during an exciting phase of scale up and growth. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Responsibilities
- Provide financial oversight of the day-to-day finance function, ensuring that the organisation is compliant with UK and overseas tax regulations and laws.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and reports for the senior leadership team, quarterly reports and commentary for the board, and provide analysis and insight into performance.
- Lead on the budget creation, and in managing the group cash position.
- Maintain and update cashflow, P&L and balance sheet forecasts.
- Prepare the year-end statutory accounts and annual audit in the UK, and support the country offices in finalising their year-end accounts and in preparing for their annual audits.
- Manage a small team of finance staff, and provide them and the country teams with support in adhering to controls and processes, financial management and grants management.
- Prepare reports for donors and funders, and lead on their audits.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns.
- Oversight of payroll and pension.
Requirements
- Qualified accountant, hands-on, with experience leading a finance function at a Financial Controller or Finance Manager level. Strong all-round technical accounting skills including financial accounting, management accounting, analysis and reporting.
- Experience of working with an international organisation with overseas operations, and of managing staff in-person and remotely.
- Strong business partner, with developed communication skills, able to work with finance and non-finance staff, and a range of internal and external stakeholders effectively.
- Strong IT and Excel skills
- Developed problem solving skills, organised and able to manage a varied workload
- Open to some overseas travel.
This role is only open to candidates with the right to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship. The role offers hybrid working with the individual expected to be in the London office once a week or fortnight/
