Finance Analyst
A very exciting opportunity has arisen for a finance analyst to join our finance team on a permanent basis in our Darlington offices. This role operates in a hybrid working environment.
Who we are
Railpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £37 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme, one of the UK's largest and longest established pension funds.
Our heritage of looking after the pension needs of the rail industry and its employees gives us our name and our unique outlook on how we serve our members. Railpen takes a holistic view, focussing on how we serve members today and how we can positively impact the communities and the world they will retire into.
The role
The core purpose of the role is to support the production of Accounting Operations and Tax activities with a specific focus on defined process streams.
The person
The incumbent will support the production of Accounting Operations and Tax activities, with a specific focus on Third Party Administration process streams. You will be responsible for inputs into the sub-ledger, delivering Accounting Operations' transactions, accurately processed within timescales set by OLAs, and facilitating the general ledger close process within a robust financial controls framework. Timely preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and review and clear down of control accounts, investigating any variances and determining appropriate corrective action is also required to be successful in the role. You will identify areas of improvement across the processes and systems in your direct control. You will also assist with external and internal audit requests and ad hoc investigations, supporting our Finance and business stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be studying towards AAT qualification and have good understanding of working with accounting operations, such as accounts payable/receivable.
Key to delivery in this role will be close collaboration with teams within Finance. Taking ownership and responsibility for identified issues and discrepancies and ensuring they reach resolution is a must. You will be organised in your approach, demonstrating strong time management skills to ensure delivery to agreed timescales. We will expect you to share your ideas with the team but also have passion for learning new ways of working.
What we can offer you
If you would like to apply, please click on the apply button or visit our Careers Page by 5pm on 24th March 2023.
Railpen is committed to creating an inclusive and diverse environment, we value diversity and welcome people from all backgrounds and walks of life.
