This is a commercial role within our Retail Costs finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for business partnering our loss prevention team. The job holder will provide insight and analysis to shape our strategy and drive actions to reduce stock loss and improve the bottom line. This individual will support the Finance Manager and Head of Finance within their business area and the wider Finance team as required.

What you need to do
  • Complete business cases and Post Implementation Reviews to enable the business to make informed financial decisions
  • Run and interpret corporate management reporting to provide timely insight, analysis and commentary to stakeholders across Sainsbury's and Argos
  • Identify risks, anomalies and opportunities and flag these to Finance Manager / Head of Finance for prioritisation
  • Build an understanding of an external perspective and use to engage Finance colleagues
  • Complete ad hoc / bespoke analysis for the business area as required to drive improvements
  • Adopt an agile ways of working approach to support Business Protection and other areas of the business
  • Work with internal teams, such as our data team (ADA), as required to complete analysis to resolve business problems
  • Work with the Retail Reporting and Change team to develop uniformity of reporting and performance evaluation across all Retail channels enabling your business partners to quickly establish their areas of focus through the Channel, Cost line and Geographic lenses
  • In line with timeline and process set by FP&A, work with business to manage Stock Loss Forecasting, Latest View, Budgeting and Q2F
  • Support the business to manage project budgets, working with other Finance teams where collaborative projects demand this
  • Support the wider team on other Finance processes and budgets as required
  • Attend business review meetings supporting our Stakeholders as needed
  • Success in this role will mean supporting the business in making decisions that enhance performance to drive incremental income for the business, improve ROI performance and manage the cost lines effectively
What you need to know and show
  • Professionally Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA), or studying towards qualification
  • Strong Excel and numerical skills, with an aptitude for turning data into analysis and insight and being able to clearly articulate this through your communication
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Delivery of process improvements
  • Effective communicator with all levels of stakeholders, including audiences of varying financial and commercial acumen
  • To have a good track record of strong financial control, but also the ability to maintain such an environment
  • Self-motivated team player, able to work autonomously, prioritise with good problem-solving abilities
  • Must have a strong eye for detail and accuracy
  • Able to prioritise effectively
