Your role
Are you independent, analytical and have strong organizational skills? We are looking for an organized, motivated, and adaptable candidate with exceptional good judgement to support the Americas IB Operational Risk Control (ORC) team within C&ORC. The successful candidate will provide independent oversight, review, and challenge to our Global Markets Derivatives and Solutions business in the Americas.

•act as an Operational Risk Control subject-matter expert covering UBS Global Markets Financing business in the Americas, with proven knowledge of products, services, processes, systems, and customers
•serve as the Global Lead for Financing ensuring that operational risk management practices are being applied adequately and consistently by C&ORC within the various geographical regions
•provide a holistic view of the risk and control environment within Financing on a periodic basis to various risk governance forums as well as the management
•engage with business stakeholders to provide valuable operational risk insight and facilitate the remediation of day-to-day operational risk issues
•review, challenge and guide business management and COO in the Financing business as well as functional leaders in compliance, legal, risk, credit risk, market risk and IT on operational risk matters.
•support business aligned operational risk activities, including event reviews, new business initiative reviews, issue management, and control assessments.
•leverage data analytics tools to streamline the processing of operational risk information and obtain data driven insights
•perform thematic reviews, deep dives, control assessments, and other risk initiatives.
•actively participate in Operational Risk Framework requirements such as Risk Appetite, Risk Identification for RCSA, and review of manual business processes.
•utilize data and metrics to facilitate the identification, assessment, and review and challenge of operational risks and the internal control environment.
•participate and provide input into regular production calls.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

•review and challenge of the First Line of Defense's risk-taking and risk assessments.
•evaluation of new products and other business initiatives for operational risks and suitability of mitigation and monitoring strategies.
•monitoring operational risks, key risk indicators, and key performance indicators of the control environment.
•independently evaluating the line of business operational risk profile, including risk analysis, culminating in monthly and quarterly Divisional Operational Risk Reporting.
•engage in relevant cross- functional stakeholder groups on initiatives to be informed of impacts to the business, operating environment, operational risks, and internal controls.
•influence executives within Operational Risk Control and the business on operational risks and actions required to mitigate risk.
•lead independent thematic reviews, deep dive investigations, horizontal and/or end-to-end assessments, root-cause analysis and trending, and control assessments.

You will be working in our Americas C&ORC team based in New York, Weehawken, or Nashville reporting into the Financing aligned Operational Risk, Americas Lead. This is a driven, diverse, and collaborative team of professionals, with oversight responsibility for managing the compliance and operational risks arising from our Global Markets business for the Americas.

Operational Risk Control (ORC) is a unit within Compliance & Operational Risk Control, whose main purpose is to independently ensure that all operational risks are understood, owned, and managed to the firm's risk appetite. ORC provides independent oversight of the operational risks arising from the IB business activities to support the C&ORC vision, be an industry leading function in the effective oversight of consequential risk management and help drive sustainable performance and the right outcomes for our clients, markets, and people

Your expertise
• a bachelor's degree in finance, business, accounting, computer or data science, engineering, or a related field, advanced degree or professional certification preferred.
• 5+ years of prior experience in in trading and capital markets businesses and operations, and/or financial institutions' operational risk management and internal control, audit, or examination function.
• product-specific knowledge and experience in trading and capital markets products and services.
• experience with foundational data analytics to use data and metrics to analyze risks and risk drivers towards data-driven risk monitoring and data-informed review and challenge.
• experience executing from thoughtful, thorough, and structured analytical reviews towards forming defensible and fact-based conclusions.
• project management experience, including planning, execution, and reporting and experience in driving successful project outcomes.
• team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills, able to manage priority conflicts in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• flexible and capable of prioritizing based on changing internal or external demands.
• experienced in handling sensitive information with a high degree of discretion.
• strong communication and collaboration skills, including development and presentation of key results or other outcomes
