Senior Finance Advisor - Global ENT and EMEA Robotics

 

Within the Centre of Excellence (COE), the Senior FP&A Advisor is responsible for reviewing business performance and generating insightful financial analysis to support the Global ENT and the EMEA Robotics commercial teams. This involves day to day interactions with Marketing Leaders, Business Unit Directors, and the wider management team and supporting them in decision-making.

By leveraging the Group’s ERP, Reporting, and BI systems, the role is responsible for providing timely, accurate, and clear management reporting that supports the Franchise’s strategic and tactical focus. In that role, you will be providing visibility on sales and business’ strengths & weaknesses, identifying opportunities for business improvement, and working on business cases that enable expanding S+N business.

 

As the primary focal for finance, you need to move seamlessly between direct business partnering and detailed analysis and operational systems delivery/month-end close. Preferred candidates with a solid technical orientation, advanced Excel and PowerBI skills, and prior experience in TM1/Cognos and SAP.

Reporting to the FP&A Director EMEA, you will contribute to building business intelligence tools. In this team, you need to role model genuine collaboration, enterprise-first thinking, and demonstrate a learning mindset. This needs to be how you want to work every day.

 

Apart from core aspects of the role, you will be expected to contribute to the continuous improvement of FP&A processes. You will also have a dotted line to your key business & finance stakeholders and need to ensure seamless delivery in a matrix organisation. You will role model genuine collaboration, enterprise-first thinking, and a learning mindset – this is how you need and want to work every day.  Flexibility will be required to balance and adjust priorities across shorter and longer-term delivery requirements.

 

Whilst not a people leadership role this is a senior role in our organisation and we are seeking a highly experienced advisor with the ability to deliver in systems but also be an engaged and credible partner – strong English and excellent communication skills are critical. Your scope will span from involvement in the full detail and analysis of your personal franchise accountability to higher-level stakeholder interactions and partnering.

 

Your role:

  • Finance Business Partnering with the franchise leadership to ensure their understanding of performance and produce insightful reports that facilitate decision-making and highlight opportunities and risks
  • Support the commercial business in the preparation of business cases to support investment proposals
  • Get the basics right - lead and make the necessary improvement to data quality and content of reports/analysis in support of the business
  • Perform in-depth analysis to provide insight, identify and quantify opportunities or understand risks
  • To be successful in the role, you need to be able to resolve complex problems as they arise and find innovative solutions
  • As such, we need people who want to act as thought partners in the team to define and leverage industry best practices in the way Smith & Nephew delivers the FP&A processes
  • Provide ad-hoc assistance with franchise projects as required

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience with at least 3 years in a relevant Senior Finance role
  • Experience in supporting senior business leadership teams within an organisation and developing strategic plans, budgets, and forecasts
  • Education: Educated to Degree level with Professional Accounting Qualification
  • Licenses/ Certifications: CPA / CIMA / ACCA
  • Fluent English (C1+)
  • Progressive experience within a commercial/manufacturing financial environment with cost control responsibilities
  • Outstanding strategic, numerical, and analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Develop long-term relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Transformation, project, and change management skills in a Finance Business Partnering environment
  • Instinct to think strategically and drive continuous improvement utilizing existing and acquired knowledge/experience
  • Ability to influence and communicate credibly at a senior level
  • Ability to work independently across multiple initiatives simultaneously and process complex data to generate relevant insight

 

Systems Knowledge

  • Advanced skills in systems especially Excel and PowerBI, preferably with knowledge of MS Power suite (PowerQuery, etc)
  • Experience with IBM’s Cognos TM1, Oracle’s Hyperion Financial Management, and SAP systems is a big plus
