Senior Tax Analyst | Group Tax | Dubai

The Al Futtaim Group is currently seeking a tax professional to join the Group Tax Team in the capacity of a Senior Tax Analyst based in Dubai.

JOB PURPOSE

This position is responsible for executing the Group tax strategy within all markets where the Group is operational. It may include interacting with tax authorities to clear up tax discrepancies, review and analyze data to obtain tax benefits, as well as create informative reports for Senior Executives. It also involves managing the Effective Tax Management Model which involves working with the tax community members for the Group.

The initial focus of this role will be to ensure that the necessary analysis is done on existing Tax R2R processes and ERP systems for the UAE Corporate Tax and global Corporate Tax and VAT audit readiness and assess the existing process and system performance and help the Group Tax leadership to undertake changes, as applicable.

The successful candidate will work closely with Al-Futtaim Group Tax along with businesses, service providers and other tax professionals in carrying out responsibilities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Tax Compliance & Reporting enhancement

  • Review existing Financial and Accounting processes from UAE Corporate Tax and global tax compliance readiness perspective. Project Manage implementation of necessary changes around accounting issues, automation and ERP readiness.

Tax Risks – active management & risk elimination strategies

  • Identify and minimize tax risks in all geographies where the Group operates, recommend alternatives, and collaborate with internal teams by reviewing documentation and other requirements.

Audits – proactive approach

  • Support Group Tax Managers in performing tax audits and in the coordination of appeals/reconsideration requests ensuring all data is compiled to support tax positions taken.

M & A Governance

  • Support and provide tax advisory on business transactions and acquisitions.

ETR Reviews / Tax Accounting

  • Review Tax accounting and retain tax information and required paperwork.

Tax Optimisation Initiatives

  • Provide support to Group Tax during projects to enhance Tax Optimisation/Efficiency across the Group.

Corporate Income Tax Readiness

  • Review existing ERP systems for availability of data to perform book-to-tax adjustments, relevant disclosures and audit readiness. Prepare and review UAE Corporate tax computations and budget/ forecast for the same

‘Other Taxes’ Readiness

  • Assess and support Group Tax in the development & implementation of new taxes in AFG.

Automation in Tax R2R processes

  • Align with IT teams (and other relevant stakeholders) and seek out effective and suitable tax forecasting tools/software.

Training for Tax Community

  • Organize learning workshops on new tax laws/guidance/updates released by the tax authorities. Support to all non- income taxes issues, perform research on various tax issues, prepare comprehensive memos, and maintain records.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS

Education Qualification:

  • Relevant regional tax knowledge
  • Fluent in English
  • Tax, Finance or Accounting certified
  • Knowledge of ERP Financial Software; SAP expertise will be preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in IFRS

Minimum Experience and Knowledge:

  • 7-8 years of experience out of which minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of tax compliance and advisory
  • Big 4 Accounting Firm is a must
  • Previous Project Management experience is a plus

  • Technically sound and able to examine and interpret data to provide thoughtful and productive solutions to tax issues, with assistance from Group Tax Team.
