Position Summary

 

 

The Analyst, Capital & Lease Accounting will assume responsibility for the delivery of the day-to-day processes that will ensure smooth running of the Fixed Assets and Lease Accounting function within Hilton’s UK Centre of Excellence.  Working with the Manager Capital and Lease accounting, supporting the delivery of the functional strategy and goals surrounding the processes involved in the delivery of accurate and timely reporting for the business.

Under the guidance of the Senior Analyst Capital and Lease Accounting, the post holder will be responsible for:

 

 

Lease & Capital Accounting

 

 

The delivery of processes and reporting to the agreed timetable and Service Level Agreement. The Senior Analyst will ensure Hilton’s Centre of Excellence offers a seamless, efficient and customer focused experience which maximises on output without compromising the quality of service.  The ability to recognise how to maximize process efficiency and effectiveness is considered essential.

 

 

The Analyst will also work with the team to support the delivery of change programmes which will involve maximising the benefits available to a best-in-class service.

 

 

The team member will participate and play a part in engendering a sense of empowerment in the pursuit of first-class service, supporting the delivery of strategies and the team activities on a day-to-day basis; this will require meticulous attention to detail and the ability to understand and interpret business metrics within the Lease and Capital arena. They will also participate in the review of Service Level Agreements (SLA’s), assisting with the refinement and ongoing monitoring to ensure that agreed service delivery metrics are achieved or exceeded.

 

 

What will I be doing?

 

 

Organizing Activities:

 

 

•            Following direction and guidance from management, carry out and coordinate all required tasks, in a timely and efficient manner whilst working toward the successful achievement of goals and KPIs

•            Where continuous issues arise with a process, propose potential solutions to Senior Analyst and Management and implement, upon agreement

•            Demonstrate a strong understanding of the end-to-end processes in all areas of remit, as well as the impact on financial statements & reporting, supporting the confident delivery of solutions and responses to questions and queries

 

 

Coordinating Activities

 

 

•            Working with the Senior Analyst, coordinate day to day activities ensuring the successful and timely delivery of all activities

•            Provide input to the relevant metrics to support the team activities and drive improvement across the business; Support the Manager in the production of relevant and timely Management Information

•            Support the provision of guidance and support to the business on operating best practice

•            Support the coordination with 3rd party service providers to ensure all necessary information is compiled, reviewed, and approved

•            Support the Manager in evaluating the effectiveness of current processes and implement actions to streamline the processes and maximize efficiency

•            Work with the locations and other functions to monitor and resolve queries and escalated items, ensuring the required processes and timelines are maintained

•            Ensure all monthly closing and reporting activities are carried out per guidelines and deadlines.

•            Drive project improvements forward as well as looking at efficiencies

•            Play a key part in the globalization project

Administrative Activities:

•            Monitor capital expenditure against established budgets

•            Prepare weekly project status updates and monthly project expenditure reports

•            Prepare the data and information to support all Fixed Asset Reporting

•            Carry out all tasks as listed on the function checklist to ensure smooth and timely close process (Leases and Capex)

•            Process all relevant data and information to support the correct accounting for Fixed Assets & Leases

•            Perform compliance duties such as the set-up and maintenance of internal controls and SOX compliance

•            Work with Fixed Asset Accounting Controller on accounting for capitalized legal fees, development bonuses, and intangibles

•            Review and code all Capex related invoices

•            Review and document new Lease extractions

•            Build or update required Lease templates as required for approval by Manager

•            Ensure that all periodic lease accounting is uploaded to the GL in a timely manner

•            Reconcile all Balance sheet accounts under the remit of the individual

•            Attend and participate in staff meetings pertinent to work assignments

•            Research and respond to information requests from internal departments and management

•            Research new leases and make accounting conclusions

•            Contribute and present in close calls

Specific Job Knowledge, ability, and skill

 Required:

•            Ability to work with limited supervision, using own initiative with ‘can-do’ approach, thriving under pressure in a fast paced environment, being able to handle multiple demands and appropriately priorities responsibilities

•            Solid understanding of accounting principles

•            Good technical skills and exposure to general ledger accounting and reconciliations

•            Strong Excel Skills

•            Ability to use multiple systems and understand how they link together, to provide training to other team members and recommendations to management 

•            Ability to exercise sound judgment, critical thinking, quantitative & qualitative analytical skills and decision making skills to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and to provide recommendations for optimal solutions

•            Strong inter-personal skills and able to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers and clients with well-developed written and verbal communication and comprehension skills

•            Good knowledge of finance modules of an ERP system such as PeopleSoft

•            Ability to identify financial issues, recommend and execute mitigating actions

•            Excellent written and verbal communication and comprehension skills.

 

 

Preferred:

•            Previous experience of working within a Shared Service Centre / Centre of Excellence environment

•            Strong Macro skills

 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: High School / GED
  • Please note some element of international travel may be required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant level of work experience in Accounting
  • BA/BS/Bachelor's Degree
  • Commencing studies for recognised professional accounting body certification/qualification
