Client Details
Our client is a leading not-for-profit organisation large enough to be a FTSE 250, currently offering a fantastic opportunity to join their talented team as a Financial Accountant on a permanent basis.
Description
Based from their head office in Basingstoke 2 days per week, you'll combine office and home working in line with a flexible, hybrid approach.
Reporting into the Financial Controller, the Financial Accountant will provide highly specialised accountancy support services to the business within the broad scope of financial controlling, financial accounting, business partnering and operational finance.
Responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining accuracy of the trial balances, preparing group consolidations, and reviewing postings for coding accuracy for reporting purposes
- Production of the balance sheet for monthly management accounts for all the organisation's activities and reviewing Group and subsidiary entity cash flows
- Preparation and submission of regulatory returns as required
- Preparing and managing the monthly routines and tasks within the month end timetable
- Liaising with key stakeholders for fixed assets to assist in the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly reforecasts of capital expenditure and related expenses
- Supporting on the production of annual statutory accounts for subsidiary companies, liaising with external auditors to ensure accurate and timely completion
- Assisting with the production of year-end statutory accounts together with consolidated statutory group accounts
Profile
Candidates are not expected to have previous experience in all above-specified areas. The role is well suited to a qualified accountant seeking to move from audit/practice into industry for the first time.
You'll be a fully qualified Accountant with experience in an accounting firm or alternative an industry-qualified accountant with experience in a financial accounting/reporting capacity.
Candidates will require a good technical understanding of the principles of financial accounting and financial statements e.g. FRS102. In addition, it would be great if you have:- A strong, clear working knowledge of financial processes and controls
- A professional and logical approach to problem solving with strong analytical skills
- Strong initiative, curiosity and drive with the ability to work to deadlines and maintain high attention to detail
- Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and demonstrate strong influencing skills#
- Numerate and computer literate with strong Microsoft skills covering Word and Excel, to at least intermediate level,
- Good with systems and ability to assimilate new software quickly
